Pokémon's Gen 3 really was the Dark Souls 2 of the franchise. Unpopular upon release, cult classic now, but ultimately introduced a lot of mechanics that are still in the Pokémon DNA today. (Double Battles, Natures, Battle Frontier post-game, etc.) And yes, they both had a shit-ton of watery levels.
