Gotta love the American Healthcare System, where you go for a knee consultation, get told you ARE going to need knee surgery, but they want to push it off for a few months, have you take the shot that hasn't worked before & then do a follow-up...why is it a cycle & not a flat line to help/recovery?

I will be good as the rest of #FantasticFest goes on, but this makes a good starting point. Seen several good films so far but still have special spots for both THE SPIRAL and INTO THE SKY. One hit me on a funny & dark level I needed & the other is a "curse" film I very much needed in my life.

Really glad the KC weather had finally become manageable, by going from 100+ heat index, to 70's & rainy. I also hate that, as it's messed with my arthritis and fucked with my back & neck days before I go out of town...where it's 100+ with the heat index...

I say this rarely, but there were times during this movie I felt sick. BOWELS OF HELL is a wild film I need people to see. Its cold open has beats of THE COFFEE TABLE, while the rest of it feels like the demonic love child of John Waters, Frank Henenlotter & Lloyd Kaufman. Disgusting and hilarious.

The whole time a line from a screener I saw last night was in my head: "Your performance reminded us dance isn't just about skill. Passion is vital"

KC Film Fans: yes, this is coming a little late, but I didn't think I'd end up sick this week & missing a movie screening, yet it did lead me to find out the IMAX in Branson is the closest place showing THE ODYSSEY in true 1.43:1, as the film was shot in. It's not 70MM IMAX but the closest to it.

My wife & I got a bird feeder for our place recently and today was the 1st day I'd seen birds show up. Of course when I told my wife the birds were gone and a squirrel was in their place. She knocked on the window & told the squirrel to get lost. The squirrel then laid down...while looking at her.

Amazing. A Variety writer, who ONLY writes about AI, wrote a piece about an AI movie that screened at Cannes marketplace (since the actual festival has banned AI movies), and not only misrepresents the headline, but the whole piece reads like an ad for the company behind the movie. This is baffling.

Screengrab of a Twitter/X post from entertainment news outlet Variety whose headline mentions how an AI-generated movie was made for $500K, in computing cost, and screened at Cannes and Tribeca. Only that's a lie as it didn't play those festivals, just their marketplaces that name, but is kind of the wild west in the movie world, just so they can steer people wrong. As does the author of the article, who only has bylines devoted to AI, and this piece about the movie "Hell Grind" reads like an advertisement for the makers behind the film, as it keeps on saying that the movie is nonsensical and bad, but that it "looks good and realistic. The head behind the AI company is quoted throughout. It doesn't come across as a genuine article, and more like some weird and terrible investment pitch.

It's just a bad and sad piece.
