A gorse thicket scattered with late yellow flowers. It is festooned with a remarkable number of dew-dappled silvery sheet webs that form shallow dishes balanced among the spiky gorse branches.

our shadows, absurdly long on a summer evening in NE Scotland.

a photograph of elongated shadows. There is a dog at the bottom of the frame, looking away and to the right. The shadows of the photographer and the dog overlap and stretch across close-cut grass and into rough ground far away. Huge, foreshortened and tangled up, the shadow might belong to a centaur or many-tentacled sea creature.

Sometimes it helps to see things from a different perspective.

Two pear like white shapes float in a brilliant blue. Each has two pink, ribbed fans above. There are dirty blobs floating on the blue, and each white shape has dark grey edges and an incongruous darker area offset to the left.

It is a view of two herring gulls from underneath, photographed looking up from inside a clear plastic shopping trolley shelter.

A narrow footpath leads from your feet along a long meadow with conifers on both sides. There are tall grasses, including sedges that show wet ground. A tall furry blonde dog with a plume-like tail is standing, alert, ahead of you on the path, studying something in the trees to your right.
