Danny Tommo got his start in far-right activism in France, filming himself harassing asylum seekers and migrants. He, along with 9 others, was banned from French territory as a result. No banning orders yet for this new wave.

It appears that the US government pressured the Canadian and Lithuanian governments (as well as the EEAS) to pull their support and representives from the @disinfo.eu conference in Vilnius. This decision happened at the absolute last minute.

It's easy, perhaps, to imagine that the days of open street homophobia in the UK are a thing of the past. And sure, things aren't as bad as they were even two decades ago, of course. But, as I find in a new piece for @thefence.bsky.social, abject anti-gay hate remains a familiar occurrence.

And yet that won't change anything... Years ago I remember looking at Amazon 'climbing' gear that was completely unsafe, no weight rating etc. Climbing centres had seen broken legs and warned of worse. It's even worse today.

This is a particularly baffling line of questioning given that we know exactly where the empty, used dinghies go: they are either destroyed, or in some cases held by the Home Office in an evidence facility near Dover. You can go there and see them through the fence. There's no secret here.

It had been at sea for 30+ hours at that point and French authorities have said people on board were weakened and unwell, which likely explains Border Force and Coastguard requesting RNLI assistance. The RNLI is involved in less than 5% of crossings.

12. The individuals on the small boat which departed France on Monday eventually arrived in the UK at around 12.30am on Wednesday morning. They were first identified on a small boat by French coastguard at around 9am on Monday. HMC Vigilant returning to base in the middle of the night, from PA:

11. Hampshire Police say six people who took part in the protest in Gosport have been arrested, including for assaulting an emergency worker. The force is making inquiries into what happened at sea and hasn't confirmed identity of the arrests.
To help facilitate peaceful protest, ensure the safety of the local community and support partners in the event of any emergency at sea, we deployed officers to Gosport and Portsmouth.

Following news that the vessel would be docking elsewhere in the country, police were met with a group of people who remained in Gosport, some of whom became hostile towards officers.

As a result, six people were arrested for offences including careless driving, assaulting an emergency worker and aggravated trespass.

They remain in custody at this time and our enquiries into these incidents continue.

We are also aware of a video circulating online relating to damage being caused to a boat in the English Channel on the afternoon of 22 September, and we are conducting enquiries into the matter.

10. French authorities putting out a fairly direct warning that attempts to interfere with their actions in the Channel can be prosecuted. Thomas/Tommo is I believe subject to an entry ban to France, which he is thought to have violated once so far.

Not an RNLI boat. Empty dinghy after asylum seekers on board had been moved to an RNLI vessel. Empty dinghies need to be secured and brought to the UK, which is what the person is on board doing when Thomas slashes it.

Somewhat ironically, Thomas is currently learning in real time why maritime authorities do not generally intercept and arrest people when they're in a small boat.

9. French authorities have just confirmed there are around 60 people on the small boat, and it set off at around 9am yesterday. Expected to be a 36+ hour crossing. For comparison, boats leaving around Calais normally take 4-8 hours to reach UK waters.

8. So having departed French beaches sometime yesterday morning, with a sea temperature of around 17, they will only be brought ashore in Britain in a couple of hours. Thomas is nearly out of fuel, and is heading for Gosport, which has been closed off due to his activists. Heavy police presence.
