It’s left me to wonder—is this Prince of Speed & Chopped Fruit ever even real? Or was he some sort of heat-addled mirage in the heatwave? Maybe, the promise of fruit from MotoFrutero was never meant for us. Maybe we’re forced to go on, further over the unforgiving dunes without respite.

Worse yet, whenever I tried to catch a little video to share with friends who had heard about him—he had already turned the corner, or disappeared down a side street before I could even get my camera open. Evidence of his existence has been a corner of his cart’s umbrella behind a tree, at most.

I think my local neighborhood cryptid is a Frutero. I can explain: We have a local Fruit Vendor. He is a fixture of the block, and on most afternoons, I can hear the little horn on his cart going up and down the block distantly.

The entire Microsoft 365 lineup runs so unreliably, slows down my computer processes, and frustrates our clients by asking them to log in even when they don't need to. Thoughts on technique vs vision from Marcos Mateu-Mestre’s “Framed Ink”

As artists we need to be especially perceptive of this surrounding energy, because it is our work to translate it into something physical, more tangible, like a drawing or the narration of a story that will successfully convey and deliver all of it effectively to an
audience.
In this book we will talk about artistic grammar" and techniques that will help in this translation process, but, besides technique, we will always need our individual perception, instinct, passion, and intuitive understanding of things in order for this "translation work" not to come out as completely mechanical, predictable, and formulaic. Technique is one thing; feeling and mood-the expression of which is our goal-are another. The former will help us put the latter out there, but will never take its place.
If we are going to tell a story, we need to believe in it and its characters. If we are going to move an audience, we need to be moved ourselves first. We just won't be able to give something that we don't have.
