![[A meme collage centered on semiotics, self-reference, and the use–mention distinction. The background features the Wikipedia entry for "Use–mention distinction" alongside Ferdinand de Saussure's semiotic sign diagram showing "Signifié" over "Signifiant". In the center, Yui Hirasawa from K-On! holds a pipe in one hand and René Magritte's painting "The Treachery of Images" ("Ceci n'est pas une pipe") in the other. To the left, logician Kurt Gödel with glowing red eyes is paired with M.C. Escher's woodcut "Dragon"; to the right is philosopher W.V.O. Quine, also sporting glowing red eyes. Large white text overlaid across the bottom reads "MENTIONING MENTIONED".]](https://cdn.bsky.app/img/feed_thumbnail/plain/did:plc:4djfp3b27soxcfkxhirydi6d/bafkreiavi7nz2dvjafy4gjy5fiaatx5lhjvwgiz3vvt5wj55ax6yn76yl4)
