Day 8 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" Darkest Dungeon is the easy inspiration to spot, but the whole "roadtrip with a crew of weirdos who have minds of their own" idea mostly came from Death Road to Canada. Just without the zombies. Or Canada. #indiegame #gamedev #newgame

So nice seeing so many people return to #noimnotahuman on its first anniversary, with so much beautiful art. Funny enough, I just checked: I first messaged Nikita, Trioskaz's lead, almost exactly 2 years ago, on 16/09/2024. Where it all began. #ninahversary26 #ninah

Day 7 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" The game started with an idea from the narrative designer: #DarkestDungeon but everyone on your team is an idiot The heroes don't act out because of stress. They're just stupid and always end up in awkward situations. #indiegame #gamedev

Day 6 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" Outcast Tales has #Twitch integration. People from chat can show up as heroes or monsters, vote on choices, and sometimes send the story in a completely different direction. #indiegame #partybasedrpg #free

Day 5 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" Outcast Tales will be completely free on release. Not free-to-play. Just a free 20h+ long game. No microtransactions, no catch. The devs just want people to play their game, and we're happy to support that as their publisher.

Day 4 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" @alphyna.bsky.social(narrative designer) and I became a TikTok tandem to market the game. We plan to conquer every corner of the Internet with fun facts about Outcast Tales. We're total newbies, but we're diligent. Here's a first-ever sneak peek

Day 3 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" Art in the game is done by Tony Sart: tonysart.artstation.com (still hoping I can keep these fun facts going every day until the full release) #indiegame

Day 2 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" In the game you can play as the Hermit, a pacifist who travels with a lizard (the cutest creature in the game). The lizard is VERY squishy. Keeping it alive till the end is HARD. Do it, though, and something cool happens.

Day 1 of "fun facts about Outcast Tales every day" Not sure I'll have enough to last until release, but I'll try! Fun fact #1: Every OT trailer (including this one) from the past 2 years has a scene of your heroes stealing a water dispenser that somehow no one ever noticed.

Thinkiness is a big part of every curiosity game. And it's true that we're a narrative-driven subset of thinky games. Big thanks to @thinkygames.com for the article!

70/30, then 30/70 after recoup. The $75k can cover both development and marketing. How it's split depends on the specific project we're looking at.

Our offer reflects the realities of this particular market segment. As much as we'd love to support developers with bigger budgets, we also need to make sure we stay afloat ourselves. Hopefully this addresses some of the concerns raised in the comments.

At the end of the day, publishing isn't only about the money. It's also about finding a partner who understands the realities of the niche you're working in. Our genres aren't exactly the hottest out there, and there aren't many publishers you can go to with a narrative-driven, puzzly, brainy game.

We'd love to raise that cap, but right now we're bootstrapping. For now, it is what it is. We've already had pitches that fit those terms, and others that need more. Both are totally fair.

Oh hey, that's us 👋 $75k isn't a huge publishing budget, and we know that. That's why we're upfront about it and our standard terms (70/30, then 30/70 after recoup), and that we’re looking primarily for smaller games or last-mile funding.

Thanks for sharing the insights, some decisions are only visible after a very close inspection. Really appreciate sharing the thinking process behind this trailer editing.

Inner Pocket Publishing is "building a quiet corner for people who love thoughtful single-player games"
New indie label is aiming for a highly curated, distinct catalogue rather than a generalist approach of signing "whatever they think will sell"

I hate press releases! There's always more to tell, than you're allowed to in an announcement, so I'm glad @gibiz.bsky.social interview gave me a chance to go deeper into Inner Pocket: where the idea came from, what inspired us, and how I see the industry today. Link below 👇

While friendslop rules the world, we’re building a quiet corner for people who love thoughtful singleplayer games. I don’t know yet whether this model will work. But I know it will be interesting. Meet Inner Pocket:

Inner Pocket is an experiment: can publishing and curation strengthen each other? Some people may find us through our releases. Others through our recommendations. If both reflect the same taste, perhaps a publisher can become a filter people actually choose to follow.
110
Pangolin @yapangolin.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
But Inner Pocket is also a curator. We will recommend games we genuinely love, including games we did not publish, and bring them into one broader collection where players can discover games that share this spirit, regardless of who published them.
110
Pangolin @yapangolin.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
We are starting small and staying small: a core team of 4, publishing 3-4 games a year. We care about complete experiences, not length of the game for its own sake. We believe the players value more how a game made them feel, not how many hours they received for the price.
110
Pangolin @yapangolin.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
We often describe these as “games for introverts”: quiet, focused experiences you can lose yourself in alone, yet still feel compelled to discuss, share, or revisit with someone afterward. Like a good book, it is experienced alone but becomes richer through the conversations it inspires.

Inner Pocket focuses on curiosity games. These are thoughtful, atmospheric singleplayer experiences built around mystery, discovery, narrative, and unfamiliar worlds.

For the past few months, three co-founders and I have been quietly building something behind the scenes. Yesterday, we finally announced Inner Pocket, our new indie publisher, together with the first four games joining us.

I never told you why I left Critical Reflex. I think it’s time. Finally all the legal groundwork is done, and the developers are on board🧵

This game was approved by Daniel Mullins, the creator of Inscryption and one of my favorite game developers of all time. Also I know Ivan and Eva personally, they deserve all the success with this game, it's truly unique. Trust me, just try it
