Great intro! I'd love to see Pliron gain some traction — MLIR for Rust seems like such a valuable thing to have.

Getting a lot of alpha from here lately, but the Discover feed really isn’t it. Way too much generic political content.

While I appreciate the gesture, I fear someone just dumped their Sperrmüll. But who am I to judge? One man’s trash is another Berliner’s sidewalk upgrade. :)

Be aware: starterpacks are useful initially, but following too many random people quickly degrades the experience & cleaning up afterwards takes a lot of time.

Maybe we also need 'Unfollow all' for used starterpacks?..

let's talk about "agents" (in the LLM sense). there's a lot of buzz around "multi-agent" systems where agents collaborate but... i don't really get how it differs from a thinking of a single agent with multiple modes of operation. what are the benefits of modeling as multi-agent?

I think it's mainly decoupling the identity from the host-server, but you can find out more in the whitepaper: arxiv.org/abs/2402.03239

Lil' hack for getting to know @zed.dev: If you're unfamiliar with a particular keymap, you can open the config with `zed: open default keymap` and ask the assistant for help by referencing the active tab with the slash command. Note that it says `untitled`, though the file is pulled into context.

Yannick Oscar @yannickoscar.bsky.social · 30/11/2024
Yea this really leaves you wondering what’s going on. It’s not like we wouldn’t accept it to be the same – after all, we basically just arrived – but how do you even decide to go after those cases? I genuinely can’t find the “if you say the wrong things you get nuked” section in the whitepaper.

I suspect the network effects remain too strong at this point. If you have a decent following on X, it makes little sense to advocate to leave—financially and from an audience perspective. We might need to develop new, larger voices here first, for higher signal content to emerge.

Connecting the social graph to outside events/data is certainly interesting; however, I think the group behind atproto explicitly decided against RDF, due to it's lacking developer experience.

It's funny precisely because of the ridiculous reaction of those people. Getting death threats for making a public dataset public? Give me a break. Denounce me however you want, but it's your inability to recognize this for what it is—not mine.

And I also want to encourage the team at @bsky.app to adjust course. While galvanizing people has been successful – be it for an initial user base, or just fun – it has also embraced a lot of shitty people. Or do you want a culture built on this?

But I want to encourage my fellow realists to stick around and make this work, not bc of objection, but of principle. I and many others joined because we believe in the cause of the open social and scientific web. We believe that hatred will eventually cancel out & true honest brokers will emerge.

Oof, the last 48 hours have truly been an acid test for parts of the scientific/tech community. Their hatred of E drove them here, only to realize it had already been hijacked by something much worse. It's a true disillusionment... it's their side being just as shitty as the other.

Yannick Oscar @yannickoscar.bsky.social · 28/11/2024
While that might be the case, an open social/scientific web is now more viable than ever. In fact, the atprotocol explicitly supports expanding its schema to other forms of discussion.

Meh, feels much more like a bunch of viciously hateful people feeling entitled to whatever. While there are comments you could consider valid, they are still very much reactionary & drama seeking (specifically people jumping in and building cases in defense of the mob).
