Volunteering fit check! I spent the morning gardening with the Tidy Towns crew. What a wonderful group of people! Teamwork at its best.

Flower & Bean in The Liberties has my heart. This flavor pairing is remarkable. “Soft scrambled eggs on homemade sourdough toast, sorrel and spinach leaves, pickled golden beetroot, radish, feta cheese, pink onions, dill, pea shoots, wild garlic oil, pistachio dukkah and hot smoked salmon.” Swoon.

Saturday’s adventure in Dublin involved buying a pink hat because 6 days of clouds and rain was shouting for something colorful while grappling with how to feel about America while looking at and being moved by art (at the Irish Museum of Modern Art) and literature (Anam Ċara by John O’Donohue).

I always wanted to be one of those disciplined (smug) people who wakes up in time to bask in the sunrise while having a nice coffee, and a healthy morning walk. Now that I moved to Ireland and it’s December, I can be. PS - today’s sunrise was at 8:31.

Sometimes we walk Blossom along the waterfront, but today’s walk required a stop-in at the Post Office on the high street.
Face and upper body of black greyhound standing on a paver sidewalk in front of a building with a monumental granite cornerstone and an ornate or metal fence leading to a fancy yellow Georgian style hotel building in the distance. Blue sky above.

The sky is brilliant today, so I decided to take my work to Happy Out after a long walk along the pier with the dog. I met this very bold plant on the way back home.

Sunday morning does not disappoint. The low-angled sun is softly strong, the sea is a spectacular blue, and the cafe serves coffee in mugs with the perfect thumb divot and welcomes Blossom.

Today’s workspace: Powerscourt in Dublin with tea and a scone. It’s twinkly, full of plants (dripping with real ones as well as the faux holiday greenery), and has a lovely yarn shop.

Today’s work setup: It is blustery today, so much that I keep thinking about that Winnie the Pooh story I read hundreds of times as a child. Luckily we have windows with southern exposure, an adjustable height desk, a window ledge just wide enough for sitting, and a dog for company.
White, adjustable, angled drawing table. Laptop open on small side table. In front wide, white, low sitting-height, corner window ledge with teal and gold throw pillow. Black greyhound sniffs at working setup. Latina woman with medium length dark hair and green glasses faces camera white at white drawing table. Black greyhound naps in background.

Day in the life - couch-based research, bright southern exposure on a rainy day, and a tired pup after a long walk and her favorite treat.

In midground black greyhound napping on black couch low, wide, white window ledge with throw pillows in shades of greens and browns and flor to ceiling wall of windows. In background view of rainy urban neighborhood rooftops and uniformly gray sky.

I ordered my café con leche “sin azúcar” this morning and the bouncy, dancing server stopped in her tracks and looked at me like I was a curiosity. She left then doubled back “not even a little bit?!?” #miami #cubancoffee

I feel like I was in Dublin for a heartbeat and now I have to hop back in plane, this time to Miami to help out my father who landed in the hospital with a cracked vertebrae. I kinda love how my hair & glasses match the airline’s color scheme. I’ll take tiny bits of joy wherever I can find them.

Puffins are social, so to attract them to Maine's rocky islands, National Audubon's Seabird Restoration Program put out decoys to attract real birds. This puffin is trying to fit in with his new friend by standing on one leg. Seabird peer-pressure can be intense. (📷: Robert F. Bukaty)
"An Atlantic puffin on Maine's on Eastern Egg Rock appears to imitate a decoy on July 9 by standing on one leg. Decoys were used to lure the gregarious birds ashore after they were re-introduced to the island following a 100-year absence."

I've written a one page patch for the new D&D Players Manual where I solve the problem of people's campaigns grinding to a halt because they can't schedule a game. PDF is the link. Print it out. Stick it in your manuals. May work for other games too. #ttrpg #dnd oldmenrunningtheworld.com?p=304
A full page of guides to how to schedule games in the style of the D&D manual. The link has the full PDF - I couldn't get all the text there in an ALT text.

I’m baffled. The latest polls show Pres approval hovering between 47.7-53% (one outlier at 44%). He only got 49% of all popular votes and only 64% of eligible voters voted, so what is driving his ratings? How could they be that high considering red districts are doing this: How is this math mathing?

ANYWAY, did you know there's an extension you can put on Chrome that will connect with your local library system and when you go look at a book, say on AMZ, it will tell you if that book exists in the library system and if it's available? It's literally called Library Extension.
