Today's the day! So excited that this movie is finally out in the world. I'm so proud of the work we've done making this the biggest and best Sonic movie yet. It's an absolute labor of love from everyone involved and the perfect way to cap off a great year for Sonic and Shadow.

my theory of blaze's appearance in sth06. they could have created a new character for that position, but they choose blaze, so I guess they were planning some lore thing.

Jeff shared this on Twitter today, so I'll repost it here as the one-man marketing team on BlueSky.

A tweet from Jeff Fowler that says "Our SonicMovie3 journey began here... this was the first piece of concept art we created for the film. The story of Shadow & Maria is one of the most important in the entire Sonic Universe and we knew we had to make it great."

Shadow and Maria touching hands through a glass barrier between them. Shadow is floating in his stasis tube.

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Koopa Troopas are explicitly religious, which is very rare for the Mario franchise. This might be a reference to an idea first proposed by Super Mario Bros. 3 32 years prior, whereby a Koopa Troopa was shown praying in the game's ending.

In Paper Mario: The Origami King, Koopa Troopas are shown to be explicitly religious, using words like "worship" to describe their activity and "god" to describe the object of that worship. This is distinct from usual Mario spirituality that revolves around "wishes".
It it possible that this is harkening back to a single dedicated sprite of a Koopa Troopa praying to Statue Mario in the ending of Super Mario Bros. 3, 32 years prior. As modern Paper Mario games often reference that game, this could be a deliberate reference.

Pay close attention to the celebrities & politicians who're instantly pivoting towards throwing trans folk under the bus or casually suggest ignoring marginalized plights. They never cared about you -- they care about power, who has it, how *they* benefit, and how they can be seen in parallel to it.

In the Nintendo Switch version of Mario vs. Donkey Kong, Mario's eyes are modeled separately from his head. In his default pose (T-pose), the eyes are misaligned with the head, bulging out severely. This is how the designers would have constantly seen Mario during development.

reposting some stuff here, starting with my current fave :)

Digitally drawn image of Sonic the Hedgehog framed by a yellow to a dark brown. He's floating in sort of an odd pose where he holds a blue guitar with Sonic Symphony stickers, modeled after Shota Nakama's, and a red guitar pick. He has one leg over the guitar neck and he looks at the viewer with a determined grin. The text "12.29.2023" "Sonic Symphony" and "xyrali" are in the bottom left corner.
