Is anyone else absolutely exhausted by the time Halloween actually arrives? It’s a six week marathon event here in Atlanta… DragonCon, Atlanta Pride, L5P Halloween parade.. and then finally Halloween. JFC I’m so tired.

Pretty much instantaneous. It’s OSC over UDP, on a gigabit wired network. Everything including the Ethernet ArtNet interfaces are on the same switch. The Hue bridge is definitely the slowest part.. it’s very easy to overload it and have it freeze up. Nanoleafs use the wired DMX controller.

Python geeking intensifies.. refactoring parts of my controller app to make it a little faster for the Halloween party.. also moved it off the DMX controller and music laptop to a raspberry, and using MIDI/OSC over the network. Finally got Hue and Nanoleaf in sync. 🤓

Remember that shithole apartment I had in 1998 in north Atlanta? It was $350/mo. It’s $2100/mo now, with minimal renovations. I think it was barely 500 sqft.

My 950sqft apartment was $780/mo when I moved here 15 years ago. It is now $2650/mo - and that’s cheap for Intown Atlanta. My 3900 sqft house was $251K in 1999; payment was $1560/mo. I sold it in 2007 for $290K. It just sold again for $980K. “Why aren’t people saving for retirement anymore?” 🙄

My phone decided to remind me of when I used to throw huge Halloween parties around the annual Halloween parade and festival in my neighborhood. It also reminded me how skinny I was in 2012 and how I really should have take advantage of my looks back then. 😬

I love this so much. 🪩 I really miss having a backyard and pool to do this.. especially when the hot tub would provide the heavy fog when it dropped below 70°. I have to make-do with my living room these days.
