Boxes and boxes of X-Men and X-adjacent comics. Collecting since 1986, chasing all X-books - close to the finish line. Favs are both Wolverines, Storm, Nightcrawler, Kate Pryde, Glob Herman, Doop. Also weird 80’s indie comics. Many cooking/recipe shares.

It was early enough that first year in the college town I could rollerblade in the grocery store. There weren’t very many of us. So much fun rollerblading with a Sony Discman too!

I am over 50 years old, got my first pair of rollerblades in 1991, and no longer rollerblade. But I very much enjoy watching your videos, they are very impressive tricks!

This was really good to read, a happy among all the crap currently going on. Since especially the Krakoan Era on, there have been many women creatives just killing it on the X-books. For so many of my fav mutant solo and team books. Very grateful.

Have a Very Merry #MutantMonday #XMEN
Photo of the comic cover for Uncanny X-Men #219 (1987), shows Havok backed up against a rock looking scared. The X-Men look threateningly at Havok, about to attack maybe. Says:

“Welcome to the X-Men, Havok - hope you survive!”

Truth. Same goes for cooking. Not only for storing tiny amounts of leftovers, but also need a lot of tiny shallow bowls for prep work. Please gaze upon my teeny (pouring!) 1/8 cup measuring cup! Tablespoon for size reference.
Photo of some very tiny shallow bowls (3 types), and a tiny 1/4 cup measuring cup that goes down to 1/8 of a cup. One tablespoon for size reference.

I am def not good at the tech stuff, but my phone does this a lot. My probably too time intensive workaround is to (w/out seeing it) type a couple random letters in the opened alt text box, close the alt text box, then when I immediately open it again I can type over the old alt text.

Iceman single-handedly started the Fedora on a Snowman TikTok challenge by accident. That’s why people love Bobby.
Photo of 3 panels in the comic Strange Tales #120 (1964). Shows Iceman changing from human to ice (really just a snowman at the point in comics), still wearing a fedora and carrying a briefcase.

Cool pickup! For #TopShelfFriday I’m going with NYX #3 (2004), first app of Laura Kinney/X-23/Wolverine. This came out during my Big Comic Break, had to drive a few hours through a big snowstorm to a con to happen upon a reasonably priced raw copy. Laura’s a huge fav now.

I’ve not to been to DragonCon, but my cousin loves it. I haven’t gone in a few years, but went to Baltimore every year for a decade or so. It’s so amazing, very comics-forward. I haven’t been to HeroesCon (need to fix), but a bunch of people seem to like Baltimore 2nd only to Heroes.

I hear you. I work traveled 1-2 times a month for a couple decades, all plane trips 90% continental US. Like you could only occasionally find time to visit shops. One lucky trip fit in 2 hours at Rhode Island Comic Con, plus a comic shop in Worcester MA I still think about.

Took this pic over a decade ago in South Carolina. No idea which species it is. Reminds me of those 70’s/80’s cat posters that said Hang in there!

This Netflix show, High on the Hog, specifically The Rice Kingdom episode listed in season 1 is where I think I first heard about Gullah culture. It’s a tough and fascinating story. I love this series, one of my fav food series ever.

Hard for me to answer since I’m just getting into the food and didn’t grow up around the food, people or culture. But there’s a ton of overlap, especially with such a big African influence on Southern food.

Not losing your mind. If I remember correctly (checked it is) the 3rd episode of the official HBO podcast dealt with this part head on (w/the writer + director) I’m terrible at paraphrasing, but there was def a perspective they wanted to share w/ those choices. Worth watching imo for some answers.
