Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things. Here’s a blurb on what I mean:

Some thoughts:
When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge.
You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be.
Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history.
You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired.
Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.

more doodles of my creechur. isn't she cute! #art #digitalart #oc

Two drawings of a cat-like girl. One is of her on all fours. The other is of her wearing a denim jacket with her hands in her pockets.

Three drawings of a cat-like girl doing different expressions. The first is furrowing one eyebrow. The second looks happy, with an unusually wide smile showing her sharp teeth and snake-like tongue. The third has her jaw stretching impossibly wide, much like a snake when it swallows its prey.

a monster that's also a teenage girl, living it up in the post-apocalyptic world #art #digitalart #oc

A drawing of a cat-like girl with a snake's tongue standing with her back to the camera. She's in front of a solid red background with splatters in black ink, and she's looking over her shoulder with her hands in the pockets of her denim jacket. The title reads "Manslayer" written in sharp lines. The style overall resembles old-school comics with stark black shadows.

lil doodles of my werewolf d&d character, revv ^_^ #dnd #art #digitalart #oc

Three simple drawings of Revv, a character with black hair and wolf features. The left-most sticker has her looking in awe at a frog, tail wagging. The top-most sticker shows her looking up with a big sparkly eye. The last one is where she sits with her legs sprawled out, ears droopy, crying big fat tears.

Drawing of a guy with messy black hair. He wears a plain brown beanie and brown jacket with a zipped up black turtleneck underneath. He looks flustered while making eye contact with the camera.

another one for @burgir.nekoweb.org :) had a lot of fun with this one #art #artfight

Dillan, a wasian boy with short black hair, pulls a flower out of his eye. It's long and unnatural. There's more flowers beneath him, looking mutated in similar ways. Text overlaps the illustration reciting information on fasciation. Highlighted sections of text read out, "Fasciation is a condition of abnormal growth in which the person becomes contorted. Genetics or disruption can result in fasciation, including environmental stressors, damage by animal, chemical or mechanical injury. Fasciation has been successfully induced through severe wounding."

The same image but with a transparent background and no text. Dillan, a wasian boy with short black hair, pulls a flower out of his eye. It's long and unnatural. There's more flowers beneath him, looking mutated in similar ways.

older drawing for yiyippieee on artfight! #art #artfight

A girl named Mara sits nonchalantly with her head tilted back. One arm is resting on her knee. Her white shirt has one horizontal black stripe in the middle with a sweater underneath. She wears camo patterned shorts along with black crew socks and sporty tennis shoes. There's an eyepatch over her right eye. Her hair is short and messy.

here's mal, an old rp character that i like to redraw sometimes. #art #digitalart #oc

Two drawings of a half-demon character with purple skin and hair. He has bird-like wings. One of the drawings has him falling backwards with dramatic foreshortening. The other has him looking happy-go-lucky. There's text with the lyrics: "And I don't wanna die, but I'll jump before I'll fall."

"wasteland mixtape" - thumbnail art for a playlist making mutual of mine on tumblr ^__^ #art #digitalart #postapocalyptic #dystopian

Digital art showcasing a low angle camera shot of a person. They're looking down at a cassette tape that they've just found and are now holding. They're covered head to toe with a hood over their head and a gas mask over their face. A backpack full of stuff is slung over one shoulder. In the background behind them is a broken utility pole that's held up by its wires.

Different thumbnail versions of the artwork. It showcases the same picture with different colors and patterns for the background and character.

the entire debate cis people have about trans people is moronic to start but it’s also a debate most trans people don’t care about, being that if we are viewed as “real women or men” or not. no one gives a fuck. it changes nothing about the reality that transitioning rocks
