Indonesia is the world 3rd largest coffee producer, with fast expanding coffee planting area. But we know little about the traits of coffee plants and how regional carbon cycle is affected. First of a series of work on coffee led by the great @tinsatriawan.bsky.social who does not drink coffee!

We studied the changes in global ecosystem quantum yield (max light use efficiency) using long-term eddy covariance data. Spolier alert - no clear trend in quantum yield! Likely CO2 effect offset by VPD. www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...

Many places on earth are greening, why not Southeast Asia? An interesting study led by Ruiying suggested the positive impact from elevated CO2 on greenness was almost offset by cropland (excl. oil palm) expansion, using a ML approach! Going to present it at #AGU24! bg.copernicus.org/articles/21/...
