New Letter: "Long-term biomass growth unimpeded by short-term photosynthetic decoupling" rdcu.be/2B9JwqK1MtTa ...show that the decoupling between photosynthesis & plant wood growth reported in recent studies neither implies sink limitation nor constrains long-term biomass growth. #PlantScience

What rain pulses reveal about carbon losses in dryland ecosystems - Lemontree
New research led by Ngoc Nguyen reveals how short bursts of carbon loss following rainfall events are often underestimated in global dryland ecosystems — with major implications for climate-carbon fee...

Rain-induced carbon losses in drylands contribute largely to the interannual variability of the land carbon sink, but do current partitioning methods and models capture them? Check out our new paper led by @ngocnb.bsky.social & @trevorkeenan.bsky.social to learn more: www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Widespread underestimation of rain-induced soil carbon emissions from global drylands - Nature Geoscience
Eddy-covariance observations suggest that rain pulses over global drylands drive substantial soil carbon emissions, which are underestimated in current measurement and modelling approaches.

Check out our recent publication from Nature Geoscience and my first paper ever! Our results represent the first global assessment of the impact and drivers of rain-induced carbon pulses since their first official documentation in the 1950s as the Birch effect.

🌲Out today in Science! We show that thermal acclimation of stem respiration could significantly reduce future forest carbon losses under climate change. 🔗https://research.reading.ac.uk/lemontree/thermal-acclimation-of-stem-respiration-weakens-the-carbon-climate-feedback/

Atmospheric river may bring significant rainfall and wind risks to Northern California, West Coast
A potent atmospheric river, potentially one of the strongest of fall, is set to impact the West Coast next week. Heavy rainfall and damaging winds are likely.
