Anyone else afraid T’s gonna bomb LA /San Diego and blame it on Iran, just in time to cancel the election? Or am I just paranoid?

Anyone who thinks these kids’ Trump accounts are anything more than an opportunity for him and his cronies to grift and manipulate the market needs to have their head examined. He ONLY does things to enrich himself. To think he cares about children is insane.

AI is not a therapist who is able to track a person’s demeanor and search for nuance. It is not a doctor who can diagnose illness and prescribe remedies. It is not a financial advisor who has a fiduciary duty to act in your best interest. It is an algorithm without checks and balances. It’s danger.

Say it with me: “hypocrisy.” Also: “desperation.”

“Do as I say not as I do” is the most problematic way of parenting. Kids are perceptive enough to see through the hypocrisy. They know when your expectations contradict your behavior. Model the behavior you’d like to see and kids will follow. Respect your kids even if it seems they don’t respect you

I don’t understand how anyone could be mean to their own children. I could never belittle them or make them feel bad about something they did. My job is to keep them safe and help them grow into their best selves. I take that role very seriously.

My dad is pretty flexible with his schedule (as much as a 79 year old homebody can be) but he is absolutely rigid when the Chicago Bears (or Bulls, or Cubs) play. Don’t call, don’t talk, don’t do anything until the game is finito.

I for one think it’s bad that the president can just say crazy stuff all day every day and 99% of it doesn’t make the news because we’ve normalized having an insane president

The whole “super intelligence” thing is such an effing joke and embarrassment. This administration is not serious.

Based on what I see among the adult population, I think we need to do a better job helping kids learn how to regulate their emotions. Lest they grow into adults who have no idea how to manage adversity and inconveniences, large or small.

Resent that I had to talk to my teenage daughter about Cornell because: patriarchy. I was hoping by now we’d be more evolved as a species but things only seem to have gotten worse.

Good for Madonna for maintaining cultural relevance and doing whatever the heck she wants at 68. I’d love to see all the ageist haters out there at 68. She’s an entertainer, not a politician. If she wants to perform and still can, let her! It hurts no one.

Showing, not telling, is the ultimate flex. A person can tell you a million times they are going to do something. Until they do it, it’s only words. Action builds trust.

I say this every year, but am going to try really hard this year to make holiday gifting intentional and thoughtful over buying crap just to unwrap and then forget about by February. We have too much stuff, are addicted to too much stuff. Same goes for me. Quality over quantity.

Projection is a way adults with unresolved childhood trauma avoid having to take responsibility for their hurtful actions towards others. Everyone else is to blame.

My husband shared a podcast with me on social media and its effects on kids (boys in particular) and my takeaway is that video games are an addiction and social media is destructive, designed to make you feel bad, and both should be used sparingly and with caution, lest you lose real social skills.

I know pedophilia is uncomfortable to talk about, but ignoring or dismissing it is far worse. Our president raped children and I hear a lot of “well, that isn’t proven” from folks who are parents. If their grandchild says an adult raped her, would they demand proof? Is her word not enough?

I’m beginning to think the only rehab Mitch McConnell has done is practicing how to give a peace sign and thumbs up, two gestures I’m sure he has never done before his handlers started parading his almost-corpse around in a shameful act of elder abuse.

Podcasts are great, but at the end of the day they are one person’s opinion and should be part of a varied and complementary learning experience. It is not the final say. Like everything, critical thinking and cross referencing sources are essential to a wholistic understanding of any given topic.

Single handedly planning and executing my daughter’s birthday party (clean house, bake, decorate, etc.) all while trying to complete an executive report is a flex I hope my daughter appreciates. All while exhausted, I might add.

No one wants to hear that they need to cut spending on non essentials, but that’s where I am right now. If it’s not an immediate need, it isn’t needed. We can make food at home (healthier anyway). We can read books from library for entertainment. We can walk outside and do pushups at home.

My energy bill nearly doubled this month. Food costs more for less. Gas prices remind me of peak Covid prices. I’m stopping drinking (stopped alcohol awhile ago but adding thc seltzers to the list.) Really ready for a leader who actually cares about everyday people. This is ridiculous.

Does anyone who lives in the real world actually believe the “strong” jobs report? Another lie, on the mountain of lies from this administration. Saying something doesn’t make it true, dumbasses.

Went to pick something up and there was practically no one on the road. Is everyone either at the Fair or en route to a cabin? Reminds me of when I lived in SF, and everything was empty in the city because everyone was at Burning Man.

No storms in the forecast but I sensed something brewing and pulled my car in the driveway minutes before the sky opened up. These types of things tend to produce weird hail and wind, so congratulating myself on being quicker than a meteorologist (thanks to a lifetime of weather-related paranoia)

Now Apple is bending the knee? I look forward to the day everyone complicit in this joke of an administration gets what’s going to come to them. A lot of people would rather live in a MapQuest world, with boring ol’ flip phones.

September is one of my favorite months. Both my kids were born in September so I have lots of good memories associated with it. I love Fall, with the cooler temps and back to school. I love the return to warm foods (soup!) and the beautiful sunsets.

While I recognize my teen daughter’s desire to spend all her free time with me (when I have free time) going to cute shops and cafes is normal and something I should celebrate, it can be hard balancing her needs against everything else that needs attention from me. Which is a lot.
