if you installed it through your package manager or flatpak, it should update through your GUI software store, but if you installed it from source, or from a package format your app store does not support, you will need to update it manually.

Yes! I've been using this for about a month and I have noticed a reduction in ai while browsing the web. Also, DuckDuckGo has the option to filter out AI from image searches now, even though it's hit-or-miss.
