13) Lucien Sablecrest God of darkness, one of three Divine Generals surviving in BD:T…technically. Once a leader of sorts next to Zade, due to his strategic brilliance, Lucien fully disconnected from the angelic army during The Turning Point, and returned full-time to his original role—Demon Lord.

Lucien, a pale red skinned man with sweeping, medium-length black hair, coming down to the base of his jaw and framing his face. A pair of black horns with a gentle sheen sprout from his forehead, near his temples. His eyes are a bright, saturated red, and he has a small, straight scar running horizontally across his left cheek, a bit under his left eye. Stylized black clouds or smoke billow around his neck and shoulders, emblematic of his power over the element of darkness (though in the story, darkness is typically represented by a black energy that's almost a cross between light and electricity).

12) Akio Redwing God of fire, one of three Divine Generals surviving during BD:T. Sharp in nearly every sense of the word, Akio is a rough-and-tumble tactical genius and terrifying combatant both. One of the first Divine Generals, Akio has been the angelic army's vanguard since his induction.

Akio, a man with beige skin, red-grey eyes, and truly red hair, a touch desaturated. His bangs are pushed back, coming to a point in the middle of his head with the rest of his spiky, short hair, giving a sense of ordered chaos. We wears a serene, yet sharp and confident half-smirk, and a thin scar runs horizontally across the bridge of his nose. The background is decorated with thick wisps of golden smoke, suggestive of all the fire he's stoked, external and internal.

11) Corryl Truecliff God of earth, one of three Divine Generals surviving during BD:T. He's since split his responsibilities between military leadership and training his late best friend's son, Allen. Strong as he is patient, Corryl quickly absorbed military expertise from the other generals.

Corryl, a stony-looking black man with a prominent facial scar. Given the limitations of Picrew, the scar is inaccurate; what it ought to look like is a jagged claw mark spanning from his left temple to the bottom of his right cheek. His eyes are a cold grey, and a pair of marks on the image give the impression of a dignified, angular jaw. In this picture, he wears a tight-fitting grey turtleneck, likely not something he'd actually wear, but would be plausible and fits his image well enough.

10) Zade Dawnforge God of light, one of the seven Divine Generals before "The Turning Point," first among equals alongside Lucien, his counterpart. Befitting his element, he is a blinding ray of sunshine, uplifting and inspiring all around him, despite his lack of formal military training.

Zade, a light-brown skinned man with rich brown hair swept up and back, with a sparse few locks hanging down over his right eye. His thick eyebrows, stubble beard/mustache, broad shoulders, and intense golden eyes might make him imposing, if it weren't for his warm, effortless smile. In this picture, he wears a white sweater. His left hand is visible, as if he's leaning forward while seated, showing a simple yet lustrous golden ring upon his left ring finger. The background, to his right, is decorated with a couple of sparkles doodled in white.

9) Vanessa New god of air and vanguard/strategist in the angelic army. Vanessa is another long-time friend of Xavier, and though she's often not directly involved with his and Niki's operations, she will occasionally help plan. She's unusually savvy, which draws Niki to her…and the feeling's mutual.

Vanessa, a fair-skinned blonde woman with bright sky-blue eyes, looking at the viewer with a confident, maybe interested look. She has one hand on her hip, and is playing with/pushing aside the hair on her shoulder with the other. She's wearing a pair of white jeans with a brown belt, and a purple, close-fitting, long-sleeved shirt with a window to her chest. The background is decorated with a pastel-purple circle that has her name in cursive and the outline of some clouds etched in white.
Commission by @scarchou.com.

Another thigh-up image of Vanessa. She's facing to the left, her head turned to look gently, fondly, and maybe a little wistfully at the viewer. She's holding her left arm behind her back, just below the elbow, with her right hand. She's wearing a pair of white jeans with a brown belt, and a blue, sweater-texture, long-sleeve crop-top that also exposes her back. Her stomach is visibly toned, her back a little less-so, due to the pose and angle.

A bust-up image of Vanessa winking at the viewer, with a warm closed-lip smile. She's wearing a low off-shoulder shirt/dress with very short, puffy sleeves, with a passing resemblance to a dirndl.
Image created with Picrew, via https://picrew.me/image_maker/156497.

A bust up doodle of Vanessa, with a sly, sidelong glance. The doodle is monochrome, but her shirt is the same shape as the purple one she's wearing in the first image.

8) Trevor New god of electricity and angelic army vanguard, Xavier's brother from another mother. Though far from the subtlety of Xavier and Niki's operations, he's often involved in other ways. He's outwardly simple, but there's more to him and his history than just being a super-soldier…

Trevor, a fair-skinned man with yellow eyes and swept back blonde hair. The right side of his bangs arc and hang over his forehead, and a vertical scar runs down from his right eyebrow to his lower cheek. He wears white armor with a golden trim, and a confident half-grimace. His angel wings are unfurled, but likely smaller than they would be in an "official" reference.

7) Julie An apprentice barkeep and university student, Niki's best friend and confidant. Since stowing away and moving into the angelic stronghold, she's made herself useful in the mess hall and resumed her family trade, tailoring. Her unrelenting friendliness has made her quite popular already.

Julie—a fair-skinned, dark-blue eyed woman with light blonde hair—wearing an off-shoulder sweater and cheeky, cat-faced grin. >:3c

A doodle of Julie as a small, anthropomorphic puppy with cream-yellow fur, wearing one of her signature outfits; a light yellow hoodie, black crop top, and white skirt. Her tail is wagging furiously. In the otherwise plain background, she's also doodled as a desert rain frog, representing her futile, adorable attempts to be scary on the rare occasion she gets angry.

6) Connor Silverthorn A mage with legend-worthy breadth of skill; something about the arcane magic in Connor's blood has given him the capability of wielding every earthly element. Oldest and largest of the group, Connor is the multi-tool that can handle every odd situation Allen and Sarah cannot.

Connor Silverthorn, a pale-skinned man with green eyes, fiery orange hair, and a short goatee. He's smiling confidently, and wears a sleeveless top that shows respectable musculature (that might be more pronounced in a more "proper" reference image) and a bandaged right arm. Wes Dawnforge, a green-eyed, brown haired man with fair skin, wearing a leather jacket akin to those of a biker gang's. His hair is short, save for his long bangs, which hang around his right eye. His brow is furrowed and his lip curled, suggesting irritation, disgust, or both. Picrew image generated via https://picrew.me/image_maker/12489.

Niki Amberleaf, a brown-skinned woman brown hair and golden-brown eyes. She's wearing a white and red jacket akin to a real-world varsity jacket, with small yellow flowers stitched into the chest area as decoration. She has a confident smile on her face and her right index finger raised, as if making a point or catching someone in a lie. Art commission by @raeyxia.bsky.social.

Starting with protagonists, out of order, because I have favorites and it isn't subtle. 1) Xavier Dawnforge Protagonist of Become Divine: Resurrect, the second entry in my main story series. Xavier is a quiet, brooding type, with a powerful gravity about him, repelling and attracting people alike.

Xavier Dawnforge, a lithe brown-haired man with vibrant, forest-green eyes, raising an eyebrow and looking a touch irritated (a signature expression of his). An art commission by @raeyxia.bsky.social.

Xavier reclining against a tree, glancing at the viewer with a neutral, unbothered expression. He has his hands clasped behind the nape of his neck, cushioning himself against the tree's bark. An art commission by @blazemalefica.bsky.social.

Xavier averting his eyes with an open mouth as if to sigh, with an exaggerated bead of sweat running down his cheek. His eyes are narrowed, hinting a lack of sleep or general exhaustion. A picrew image created via https://picrew.me/en/image_maker/31304.

4) Wes Dawnforge, protagonist of Become Divine: Manifest, the third entry! Wes is an apprentice historian and vigilante, abroad in Syluay. Unlike his older brother, Xavier, he is exactly as prickly as he looks. Many assume he's nothing more than an overzealous thug. They're only mostly wrong.

1) Let's start with some protagonists! Xavier Dawnforge, essentially my mascot, focal character in the second of my primary story trilogy, tentatively titled "Becoming Divine: Resurrect." "Prince" of the angelic army, Xavier is quiet and brooding. Despite the angst, he's gentler than he appears.

This tracks. But in the process of taking this, I think what really defines my writing is rumination; it's mental exercise, thinking complicated things/feelings through, figuring out how things should be. My main trio of stories is really all about power, how to use it for good (and bad), and why

Your Result: Melancholy. You create from melancholy. There is an aimless sadness that pervades your life. It's not as though there's anything in particular you're grieving, but you still find yourself possessed of a peculiar somberness. This melancholy seeps into your art, where it becomes a directionless lament. You long to make your senseless sadness into something beautiful and bittersweet, so you depict it countless times throughout your work. It sets the tone of everything you create, filtering all you craft through a melancholic lens. There is a nostalgia for what never was, a grief for something you never had, a longing that doesn't know what it craves. These are the feelings that serve as your inspiration: vague, listless lamentations.
