some candor for tuesday. i wanna stress that i'm not anti AI and the gains in productivity because of it are undeniable but i also think we're in a bubble

maybe in the coming years we will see Akeso-Merck corporate wars in biotech. don't discount life-saving chinese drugs in the market in the near future

btw on the subject of clinical trial reforms, China IS faster and more efficient than US and certainly EU for a few yrs now. there was a recent report that talked more about this www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

referencing this meme ofc. I really think it helps to have a "that don't impress me much" outlook when dealing with recsys and algorithms. Yeah you're cool I know that, you make my job sooo much easier but that's where the appreciation ends.

I don't exactly have what you're looking for but something close. First one is paper published by jay van bavel's lab. He does a lot of work around social & its impact on society and might be a good starting point. second one is a data viz from 2024

one remarkable benefit of being healthy is that you can be around longer to do good not just for yourself and those around you but also for strangers, sometimes responsible for saving a life. rest in peace, good man. what a life

it really depends. i have seen really pretty ones built in the last 40 yrs that look beautiful inside out (one such example below). i've lived in 120+ yr old buildings w tall ceilings, tall windows, built-in pantry, hardwood flooring etc that would put modern buildings to shame

a few months back they introduced sites where one could convert their profile into a site. i played around with it for showcasing gen. art work. below were first iterations with placeholders. it was fun and looked really really slick for design work. sad it'll go away

reminded me of this screencap. something like (1) start posting on social appealing to a certain demographic/ in-group (2) once you gain momentum, launch s*bst*ack promising a more detailed take on the topics you've opined on twitter already (3) tell people you're more active there, not on twitter

excellent list and thanks for posting the link! I do have to give a shout out to Enemy of The State (1998) which is one of my favorite movies ever. I watched it as a kid and ever since have become obsessed with surveillance/ spy thriller genre

Yeah I can relate. Sometimes I see things in passing that are worthy of more than a 'like'/bookmark so I made a casual doc called "good things are always happening" to check back at the end of the yr. It has product/breakthrough announcements sorted by month when I first came across them
