"let people enjoy things" no. no i dont think i will
"Just let people enjoy
things!" "Global capitalism created an imperial world order in which the proletariat of the Global North is pacified by constant entertainment and consumption via a consumer society funded by the resources and exploited labor of
the Global South."

This isn't even the correct description of the term. Street Queen was primarily used by poor trans people who lived on the streets and had to hustle for a living. Its a play off of the old term 'street people' which was a blanket statement for gays on the street who hustled for a living.

same as it ever was 😵‍💫
NEW YORK CITY-In the wake of the second hearing on Intro 475 on Nov. 15, transvestites have emerged as a possible major complication in efforts to obtain passage of the measure outlawing discrimination in the hiring of homosexuals by city agencies.
Lee Brewster of Queens Liberation Front, speaking for the trans-vestites, has angrily accused
"straight homosexuals" of trying
"to sell your sister away and offer her up as a political sacrificial lamb.".
"We won't go," he warned.
No one wants to admit it pub-licly, but many of those in the more conservative organizations-including a faction in the Gay Activists Alliance, see the transvestites as a needless embarrassment and are afraid that any insistence on specifically • including them under the umbrella of the beleaguered bill may be all that it

A document has been obtained from the Soviet Embassy describing nine sex conversion operations performed in the
USSR in 67-68. Four of the changelings were true hermaphrodites. Such operations are performed in ordinary town hospitals free under socialized medi-cine. The USSR also has an Institute of Experimental Endocrinology and Research of Chemistry of Hormones.

yeah so uhh the girls that work the streets are human beings, their violence is still violence against trans people you pig
And the data that transgender civil rights groups do collect on individual cases of the murders of transgender people shows that domestic violence and disputes around prostitution are the big killers of trans people, not hate crimes.

@xanthra.me if marsha was alive today she would be considered a boomer, 80 years old. many boomers who fought back faced violence for it and as a result are dead or incarcerated for it. your issue is not boomers but capitalism and white supremacy, oppressive colonial
powers that are still here today

its lacanian as fuck as it assumes her desires come from the lack of progress of the time. Sylvia wanted to live in a world that treated her as a human being. she ascribed in her words her desires to live her desires to be truly free from oppression www.cbc.ca/radio/asitha...
Rivera reminisces about wearing girls' clothing when she was a child, and laments her previous encounters with reporters who insisted on using her birth name and male
pronouns.
"This is very oppressive. Everyone calls me Sylvia. I've had the same name for nine years," she says. "It's not just transvestites that call me as Sylvia or treat me as 'she.' This is [how] people respect you. This is respect."

Whenever I see posts about Christine Jorgensen I always see people lament her as a lost matyr for a time where trans people were seen as respected. This works to create a sanitized version of trans history that ignores that psychoanalysts were dropping articles like this in 1957.
American physicians believe that a psychiatrist's couch-not an operating table-is the place to treat people seeking sex change.
THE WEIRD PSYCHOLOGY OF SEX CHANGES

Jesse she literally says in the article that this is a "false pretense". Nowhere is she claiming the blame game and scapegoating non-binary people.
This is not to say that the plaintiffs in Skrmetti would have prevailed if they had made originalist arguments. There is no way to know. But Frances Thompson left us an unflinching challenge to the false pretense that transition is a recent invention, that it requires modern medical legitimacy for its legality, and that transgender rights can only be an elite interest. Indeed, it was not lost on me, the coauthor of an amicus brief to the court submitted by U.S. historians, that our findings were entirely ignored, both in oral arguments and written opinions.
Our brief detailed the long and uncontroversial history of transitioning sex through surgery and hormones is in this country and worldwide, refuting the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals's core holding that they are "novel" and
"experimental." There is no doubt that the majority opinion and conservative concurrences would have had a difficult time confronting the facts of history.

she notes that she doesn't think much would have changed while noting her arguments were just outright ignored.

in the raids that would take place in like the 60's they would literally use like "inspection" as an excuse to raid and gay bars. also note the street queen erasure as he uses stonewall as an excuse to justify this police raid some homonationalism ass shit 🤦‍♀️
"I want first to acknowledge the way in which bar raids were used historically to harass and commit violence against the LGBTQIA+ community. It was not so long ago that police raids on gay bars were routine, and it was one such raid, at the Stonewall Inn in Greenwich Village, that sparked the modern movement to establish safe places for people to be open about their gender and sexuality without fear of arrest," Gainey said.
"It is my intent that our actions as a city build upon, rather than undermine, that legitimate desire for safety."
Gainey went on to state the inspection was
"driven by a report to the city's Bureau of Fire, specifically asking for a check on overcrowding" and "inspectors found that the bar, with an occupancy permit for 70, had 133 people inside".
'. He added the other agencies
also identified a "handful of additional violations"

bro sees the democrat party treat us like some commodity to campaign on and just goes "oh we should abandon trans people" literally non of the dems reacted to the INSANE AMOUNT OF ANTI TRANS LEGISLATION IN THE PAST 4 YEARS THEY DID NOTHING TO HELP TRANS PEOPLE
"How many of you believe that racism and misogyny played a role in Vice President Harris' defeat?" asked MSNBC anchor
Jonathan Capehart. Every candidate raised their hand. "That's good," he added. "You all pass." Later, a DNC member asked, in reference to party positions: "Will you pledge to appoint more than one transgender person to an at-large seat?" Only one of eight contenders kept their hand down. The spectacle appalled many dyed-in-the-wool Democrats - and deepened the sense that party leaders were not up for the moment.
"I don't know if Dems realize how fucked they are right now as a brand," said one Democratic strategist who, like others in this story, was granted anonymity to speak frankly. "It was a bunch of people politely discussing how many deck chairs on the Titanic should be reserved for transgender people," said another. He is not alone. There has been little partywide rethinking of Biden's economic agenda, even though three-quarters of voters said inflation was a hardship in exit polls. Aside from an occasional headline about someone breaking with party dogma, there hasn't been a broad come-to-Jesus moment over cultural issues, despite the fact that surveys show a majority of Americans do not support liberal policies like allowing transgender female athletes to compete in women's sports or providing puberty-blocking medicine to children.

The Gay Activist Alliance (GAA) actually had the manner of Chris referred to them in one of their meetings. Both Sylvia and Arthur were in GAA so it's hard to tell who brought Chris up. However, I've searched through the available files of the GAA legal committee and wasn't able to find Chris.
23. Chris Thompson (or Henderson?), a transvestite in semi-drag, who went to Bellevue Hospital with an asthma attack, has been kept in the psychiatric ward against his will fof 2 months and has been mistreated. The matter was referred to the legal
Committee •
24. The Treasurer will review all financial procedures with interested members in order to produce an informative booklet.

Over the years I have seen this article on Chris Thompson, a black trans feminine person who was forcibly incarcerated in the Bellevue, pop up a few times. Chris has largely only been known through this Gay Flames article until of something I found recently.
ISSUE SEVEN
+* A BULLETIN OF THE HOMOFIRE MOVEMENT ++
A MES
Nov. 14, 1970
CHRIS: Gay Prisoner in Bellevue
(Note: Chris Thompson is a black male transvestite who went to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his asthma. Because he was gay and a transvestite, he was transferred to the psychiatric wing, where he could be "kept under control."Chris has found brutality and ridicule at Bellevue, not medieal attention and is now threatened with transfer to a state mental hospital, from which he might never return.
STAR's Sylvia Rivera and GAA's Authur Bell conducted an interview, a part of which is printed here.)
2: Do you feel that you're being held prisoner here?
A; I feel that I am a prisoner and have been mistreated. They claim they are trying to help me but I don't think they think they are just bull... just playing with me, just because of my homosexuality, wondering whether I want to have an operation, and asking me all these questions which doesn't concern them.
claim they're treating me because of my asthma.
They said they
thought I may have tuberculosis, so they did a biopsy, and they found it was congestion of the chest.
Then they told me they was
going to send me home. I asked the doctor three weeks ago if I could have a pass so that I could take care of finding housing, and she said, "No."
And I asked why and she said "Because we can't let
you out by yourself." She said she was going to ask for an attendant, but then she said she couldn't find no attendant that could go with me.
Q:
Do you think they're going to keep you in here nerhaps forever?
A: Well, she told me if I can't find a place to stay they would have to transfer me straight to a state hospital.
But everyone tells me
that here you can file for a lawyer; they can't send you to the state hospital... they have to give me some welfare assistance.
Q: Would you want us to support you if they continue holding you here:
A: Yes, I would want full support.

Letter that Diana Slyter wrote to Gay-vue in 1971 on the whiteness and transphobic behavior of the Philadelphia community center, Gay House.
Gay Sisters and Brothers,.
I am writing this letter, hoping that we can all profit from it. TI ama former employee/resident of Gay House. Please keep in mind, I am trying to create, not destroy.
Gay House opened in Mid-March of this year with a $2000 seed grant from
JUMP, a church group. This money was given without any religious implications, although the fact that it came froma church group scared away many gay people,
I moved into Gay House during the second week of its life. The arrangement was simple--I needed a place to live and Gay House needed people. I was quite excited with the concept of Gay House, and worked quite enthusiastically on it.
Gay House's early orientation was toward counselling, with a grudging attempt
at a drop-in center and a lot of outside the House social activities.
As Gay House developed, I found nyself less able to do anthing with it. Examples: I spent a lot of time making a gravel pathway around the House, only to look out the window and find 4t being raked over for a lawn. I'11 have my path in the end, after enough people have walked across the lawn
to go around the house, I also wanted to do counseling of transvestites and transexuals, since I have experience 4n this area, but upon expressing this desire, I was told that this was being given to someone who I have never seen or heard of, A few weeks later, after considerable battling, I managed to organize a musical Jam on Saturday nights, Despite the fact that it was well-attended and successful, I Was unable to make this a weekly event, due to Gay House's prejudice against activities in the house,
The thing that bothered me most though, was when people began maneuvering behind my back, I ama transvestite,
and as such, I have felt 10 times the oppression from Gay people then I have from straights. I soon had a clique of about a dozen peovole telling stories behind my back, things like how I was shooting heroin(I never have and never will use speed, barbs, or heroin,).
How I was actu…
