This is 53. Karasu (“crow”) tengu. Tenpyō-shōhō era (749 - 757). Tōdai-ji Temple, Nara, Japan. These yokai are disruptive demons and tricksters but also protective spirit guides. This 1,200+ year old mask is the perfect harbinger of another transformative solar return. #birthdaygift

This scrum of pot-bellied, sunken-chested betas trying to bully an all-black clad badass Eastern European wasteland survivor while dressed like Men’s Wearhouse mannequins is peak cinema.

Reminder: They're trying to demoralize you, and they're doing a great job of it. Part of resisting is making time for joy despite the attempts to make you feel this is not the time for it. Love your people. Dig the art that speaks to you. Go to the places where life flows into you. You deserve joy.

During the Soviet era, access to Western media was heavily restricted. One notable workaround was the emergence of “bone music” — bootleg records made from discarded X-ray plates that contained banned music.
