Your daily reminder that the US health care system is a scam. Over 90% of this lab bill was "adjusted" away without the health insurance company paying a cent, and then they won't even cover the re bymaining $21. And I'm on the best plan healthcare.gov offers, almost $1000/mo in premium.

"Best economy ever." For grifters and investors, maybe? We can tell which graphs POTUS looks at, and which graphs Americans feel the most.

Monthly job growth declining over the last 4.5 years. Most recent month shows -23k job growth.

5 year graph, showing S&P 500 hitting new all-time highs.

Cost of living has increased by 23% in 5 years. 5-year graph of Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising.

The problem with American health care and the "cost of living" crisis in a screenshot. This is a $650/month "silver"-level ACA plan, which most Americans cannot afford to begin with. If anything goes wrong, or heaven forbid the missus gets pregnant, you are dipping into savings… you don't have.

🎯 (Written in 1998)

“I have also read that the Pox was caused by accidentally coinciding climatic, economic, and sociological crises. It would be more honest to say that the Pox was caused by our own refusal to deal with obvious problems in those areas. We caused the problems: then we sat and watched as they grew into crises.”

I'm so tired of winning! "jobless expansion"… "no job growth in 2025"… "we're not creating jobs"… "we've been in this for over a year now" Unemployment has continued to tick up. Oil has gone from ~$55-60/bbl to ~$90/bbl. This will raise prices of *everything* = inflation risk.

I've not shared much about my attempt to grow jalapenos here. Here's the result of growing them from seed since May or so. They mostly grew outside but now are in for the winter. I don't really have any idea what I am doing but they turned out mostly okay.

$167 for a year of unlimited wireless service *with hotspot and intl data* is a crazy good deal. I've been very happy with US Mobile. I'm on Warp (Verizon) but they also have Dark Star (AT&T) and Light Speed (TMobile), and you can even switch between them. www.usmobile.com/referrals?re...

I'm looking for new opportunities as an engineering leader—director or senior manager (in this role, I am technical but any code I author is a bonus instead of an expectation). I have ~15 years managing remote teams and prefer remote-first companies. 14/10 employees agree I make a great boss!

Neighbor's doggo is very cute and wants to visit. I would love to remove a panel from the fence so they could visit and run around together, but I can also see how this might not be the best idea.
