On his 101st birthday, I’ll show these raw cards to show.

Also, I believe, the only player to sport a Band-Aid in any Bowman baseball card set.

Yes, but Dave was both 18 years old and 19 on that same card!

I always like to pretend I have more than one 1933 Delong card.

Basketball was the same in late 70s! Almost every action shot involved the Bullets!

Noticed old cards in background of S6:E16 of LA Law. 1953 Topps Johnny Mize jumped out at me. Next to it is I’m pretty sure Satchell Paige from same set. Is that a 34 Guidry Lou Gehrig also in photo? @sabrbbcards.bsky.social @postwarcards.bsky.social @spoart.bsky.social

Nice! Not working on too much right now. I am trying to get all the ABA cards from 71-72 and 73-74. That would give me all the ABA cards. What about you?

That Whitey Ford is right up there with the Minoso for my money.

A few years ago, @spoart.bsky.social completed his 1970 Kellogg’s baseball set, which got me interested. Such a beautiful set! Took me awhile, but my final piece arrived the other day. Thanks for the push Mike!

I agree, good blog post. There is a big card show in Dallas that I went to about three times in 2022-23, but while it did not seem so non-sports slanted as you're seeing, there was very little vintage baseball, like 10% or less. Is this reaaly what people like these days???

About 3 yrs ago @spoart.bsky.social was finishing his 1970 Kellogg’s set & it was so beautiful, I decided to try. Almost there now (just need Stargell) but much more recently. I started working on 1972, and this came in to complete it the other day! Now to get that 70 Stargell!

And while Jason you're completely right that giving just a little on condition can make things a lot more affordable, so does skipping the Buy It Now and patiently bidding in auctions instead. Here are some bargains I've gotten in the past year of players in their prime! 8 HOFers; $28.56.

Harmon & Brooks are two guys that seem to be consistently underpriced, for mid-career cards even. And that's when they were in their prime!

It's the "here are great players and here is their rookie card" hall of fame. Not for me.

For my #SABR friends: some friends of mine are really die-hard Tigers fans and are panicking. Anybody know of some near-collapses where the team held on to win the pennant? We all know about teams like the 64 Phillies who blew it-I'm looking for some who held on. @heavyjstudios.bsky.social

Sadly, 5730 Watson Circle was torn down just a few years ago. Used to be one of my stops when people would come to visit Dallas and I'd show them the city.

I'm about 50-50 between the two now. I came over here because many of the people I like to hear from switched. I will say though that i see way more political stuff over here than I did or do over there. I don't want to deal with politics either place.

To some of the other points, I hate rookie cards. Hate them! But I'd have to include for Sandy for a few reasons, not the least of which is that it is in the Fred C. Harris book! And I LOVE that 63 Fleer. I've been hunting it for a while.

I have seen these on eBay. So were they inserts into the packs? Some packs? All packs? I’m guessing most just got tossed? (Like we did with the 1974 baseball & football team checklists.)

Well said. And I did not read the article, but I think the coaches around here “notice” who throws strikes, as opposed to a few mph difference.
