Here are the final #2026WorldCup groups after today's draw in Washington, D.C. The expanded format has diluted the field a bit so there's more parity across the groups than in previous tournaments, plus a few TBD's, but I'm leaning towards Groups I and L for my "Group of Death" nod.

While I'd bet (hope) it's a placeholder, a new pro team offering such a low-effort "crest" for their introductory announcement is at best a poor way to make a first impression, or at worst a bad omen for their long-term success. And the margin between best case and worst in US soccer is razor thin.

It's also really interesting comparing Spurs' brand refresh – which modernizes the brand with minimalism for the sake of brand flexibility – which runs so counter to Ajax recently announced brand "refresh" where they returned to their 100-year-old, highly-detailed, lithographic crest.

Obviously a bit biased here, but I'm loving Tottenham's brand refresh. While dropping the text below the main logo's cockerel was an obvious choice, adding supporting branding elements – such as a silhouette variant, reintroducing an updated club monogram, and adding hallmarks – was long overdue.
