Ophelia has a goal: become valedictorian. She didn't expect to fall in love with her academic rival, or for him to die and come back as a ghost. For him to find peace, she must help him complete his bucket list in a month—that is, without losing her heart again... or her life. #dvpit #ya #pr

Seventeen-year-old Ophelia Sun must help her academic rival, who only she can see, cross into the afterlife after his death by completing his bucket list, but she only has one month to decide if she’s willing to risk her heart—and her life—for a love she’s guaranteed to lose. #dvpit #ya #pr

Moodboard with photo of girl sitting by window, a girl with books, a girl and boy on roof together, a teacup, someone on stairs, a locket with the word “you”, two people standing underneath an archway, and a boy in a school uniform. Text in the middle says “my mind turns your life into folklore / I can’t dare to dream about you anymore / Taylor swift”

#askDV at what stage do you like to see manuscripts for your agented authors? what happens if you don't like the idea?

010

sydney 𑣲⋆ | currently querying! @writinganddreams.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

#askDV do you think that a good hook/plot or good voice matters more? which do you look for in a query/manuscript? alternatively, which is more preferable for publishing nowadays (because of shorter attention spans, especially in YA)?

000

sydney 𑣲⋆ | currently querying! @writinganddreams.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

#askDV how often are form rejections on queries because they are improperly formatted, unclear, wrong genre, etc., and how often is it really just an issue of fit or timing?

000

sydney 𑣲⋆ | currently querying! @writinganddreams.bsky.social · 17/09/2026

#askDV with the increased workload of many agents, how long would you recommend waiting for a query reply (if they don't reply to all) or a full request before closing the query? are there any genres/tropes you predict will come back soon?

After having spent an inordinate amount of time on X, one thing that is now abundantly clear is that WE ALL KNOW HOW TO SPELL OVER HERE. I wondered why the writer in me has been so calm these past few weeks. Pat yourselves on the back, people. 💙 😁 💞
