Recency bias (because I just watched the reunion series) compels me to say that it’s Gong Yoo in Goblin.
Gong Yoo as Kim Shin in Goblin. A heartbreakingly handsome Korean man standing outside looking handsome and wearing a handsome cream turtleneck sweater and a handsome tan overcoat.

Excited to share the latest issue of Zoo View for summer 2026! Look how pretty it is! In this issue we covered educational programs, treating California condors for lead poisoning, animal acupuncture, and more! You can read it here: lazoo.org/join-our-com...

Finally made it to the Jaws exhibit at the Academy Museum. Very well-organized, with lots of original props and fun interactive displays. My favorite thing (not pictured) was the dolly rig set up so you could use your phone camera to replicate the famous dolly shot of Brody on the beach.
A prop shark fin used in Jaws displayed on a white pedestal. Above it is a yellow sign with a quote from the movie, attributed to Chief Brody (Roy Scheider): “You open the beaches on the Fourth of July, it’s like ringing the dinner bell.A museum display inspired by the design of the Orca from the movie Jaws. In the center is a wooden fishing chair and a fishing pole. There’s a harpoon gun, a scuba tank, a ships wheel, and other authentic props and scenery from the original film.

Fun but exhausting day at the Ren Faire. I should have taken more pictures, but I got this one as we were going in.
An old-timey sign reads “Renaissance Pleasure Faire” in fancy red letters on a yellow background. Below it are musicians dressed in Renaissance garb playing in front of a mural featuring a rearing white unicorn on the left and a red dragon on the right.

Brought my kids to the show tonight too. Here they are hugging. (We all had a blast.)

Time to repost this pic I took of The A.V. Club’s short-lived L.A. office on the day G/O Media sold the site. (I had such high hopes for better things but I was so, so wrong.)

We drove past Manzanar on our way to a wedding this weekend. The buildings and watchtower are still there. I’ve been that way before, but it hit different this time. My brother stopped to look around and found this newly posted sign, mandated by the federal government:
The text of the sign reads: Manzanar National Historic Site belongs to the American people, and the National Park Service wants your feedback. Please let us know if you have identified (1) any areas that need repair; (2) any services that need improvement; or (3) any signs or other information that are negative about either past or living Americans or that fail to emphasize the beauty, grandeur, and abundance of landscapes and other natural features.

Attended a lovely destination wedding in the Eastern Sierras this weekend. Look at these gorgeous brides! One of them is my ex-sister-in-law, who will always be family to me. My brother was there with his new wife, celebrating with everyone else. Funny how things work out sometimes. ♥️🏳️‍🌈

Now that the embargo is up I can say that this was about Murderbot, which I thoroughly enjoyed (in a different way than I enjoyed the books, because they are not the same thing). I wrote up a brief rec here: watercoolerhq.co/watercooler-...

Been thinking a lot about this extraordinary Goya painting lately, which I got to see in person at the Prado last fall. Sometimes it makes me feel hopeful, sometimes hopeless, but it always makes me feel something.
A painting by Goya, sometimes called The Dog or The Drowning Dog (he didn't give it a name). The upright image is dominated by a splotchy golden background that takes up two thirds of the visual space. The lower third is a brown mass--it could be the side of a hill or a wave muddy water--ascending towards the right edge of the painting. Visible just above it near the center of the image is the head of a small dog looking up towards the top of the slope. The unbalanced proportion of the piece, the earthy (or possibly unearthly) color palette, and the worried look on the dog's face combine to create a sense of unease in the viewer.

Volunteered to decorate Rose Parade floats tonight and we were working right across from the Wicked float. I talked to another volunteer who was painstakingly covering part of the train with small split peas in rows, one by one. Also loved Illinois’ float - a tribute Ferris Bueller’s Day Off!
