Whenever he retrieved a piece of his lunch—a strange mix of fried pickle spears, Buffalo cauliflower nuggets, and coconut beer-battered tempeh—he rolled slightly to his left. From my work in progress, Walking a Fine Witchline, by T.L Brown: Gingerly, I rolled over onto my back and peered up into the pitch-black darkness overhead. A quick inventory of my body proved I was not in any pain, for which I was grateful. I could sense—and somewhat make out the shapes—of tall structures towering over me to my right and left. My fingertips skimmed the hard surface of the floor, and my ears rang in the silence as I struggled to determine if I was alone. As I strained to listen, I could hear my heartbeat grow louder.
