thinking a lot on sayo’s childhood lately (pictured: around 6 summers old)

Two sketches

1. A young Au Ra girl, Sayo, playing cheerfully.

2. Young Sayo squinting her eyes.
Her father says: “She may need spectacles.”
Her mother says: “Troublesome girl…”

Celebrating the final month of the Summer season with......a writing raffle? What's the occasion? There isn't one! But we're doing it anyways!

sayo and ruriri! their skill levels are very different so they do not travel together, but naturally they are acquainted. this sort of scene would have happened sometime post endwalker!

*location: wanderer’s palace
Sayo: Ruriri.
Ruriri: Well, well! If it isn’t Sayo!
Sayo: I heard you intend to become an adventurer.
Ruriri: That’s right! Just you wait! I’ll be so great, soon YOU’LL be bragging about knowing ME!
Sayo (with the shining, pure aura of a Warrior of Light): I’m sure I will!
Ruriri: Geh! Don’t go along with that so easily… feels like you’re making fun of me…

Introducing Ruriri Ruri!! A songstress from ancient Nym, who is now a newbie adventurer after recovering from the Green Death in the 7th Astral Era. She’s headstrong and unexpectedly foul-mouthed, but she has a big heart and is determined to make her way in an unfamiliar world.

Sayo (小夜) means "night", though with kind of a poetic flair. It's a period appropriate name that I've always liked, so I just went with it. I wasn't thinking too deeply about the meaning of it at the time. I struggled a bit with it later, like 'why would her parents name her this?', but -- (cont.)

i need to get all the sayo lore out of my head and into a readable/viewable form but I don't know where to even start O|-< writing it would be faster than drawing it at least... maybe..

I picked face 4 because I liked the horn shape the best, but I think her features are really pretty!! I tried to soften the built-in sharpness of the face 4 features, and I think the end result is very elegant. Even if I had the option I don't think I could ever change her horns now...
