here's an idea: if someone works trying to fix the kind of evil systems that are invisible to you by design, maybe shut the fuck up when they tell you about the reality on the ground

Fondly remembering when Obama went on TV to announce they killed bin Laden and everyone ran to Facebook to jerk each other off

People completely hate being reminded that they are just a little machine cobbled together by another little machine, that even the idea of species is specious, that they are not part of some grand order of the universe, but the fabric of the universe itself. They hate it so much.

Yes, for most of history, Murdertown's residents were legally required to murder. Yes, even after that law was repealed, the people of Murdertown still kept murdering. But what about the promise of Murdertown: that it is a town. Of people. Who, yes, sure, they murder.

Hi, welcome to Murdertown. Haha no, it's just a name, unless you count the unusually high number of murders.

Is 10/7 worse than 9/11? Obviously. In fact, it's nearly twice as bad: 10 / 7 = 1.43 9 / 11 = 0.82

And yes, 10/7 is Israel's 9/11. Except that 10/7 was in many ways far far worse than 9/11.
One way to understand this is to observe that 48,000 Americans being murdered is the proportional equivalent to 1100 Israelis being murdered. 2/22

Though, in the more complicated math of degrees of separation, it is far more likely that Israelis know someone who was killed or taken or terrorized on 10/7 than that Americans would know at the 48,000 number. So in that sense it's even worse. 10/7 directly impacted nearly every person in lsrael. 3/22

Of course, 10/7 was also one-by-one, individual personal murders. And 10/7 also included mass raping as part of the plan (as eventually acknowledged even by the U.N.).
And also, on 9/11 11,000 (proportionally)

To clarify, I think it is ludicrous to suggest that well-known "YIMBYs" like Matt Yglesias and Ezra Klein are in conversation with anyone who seriously thinks about or does work to create affordable housing. Classifying it as a single movement is incoherent.

berserk @worstplace.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
As Bryce alludes to, it's not really important what "most people" think about YIMBYism except insofar as their perception of it makes it easy for bad faith actors to achieve their goals
140
berserk @worstplace.bsky.social · 08/10/2026
YIMBY hasn't meant anything concrete for over a decade. It's an umbrella that covers everyone from "let's harness the market to increase stock while we fight for public housing" people to "let's bring tenements back" ghouls.

Men are socialized to be misogynistic predators. It is normalized within our culture to ignore women's autonomy. You are feeding into that culture by drawing a distinction that does not exist.

What is the difference between a "normal man" and a predator? Getting caught.

It's not anything innate to men. It's about socialization. Men are not taught to have empathy or emotional intelligence. They are taught to be competitive, aggressive, and selfish. We don't need to get rid of men, we need to get rid of masculinity.

I'm just building a tower with my friends. If you think it's tall enough to reach God, that's just your opinion. That's not what we're doing. Don't tell God we're building a tower to reach him.

For the last time, I am not Mr. Met. I'm his brother. I have nothing to do with the Mets. This is not a Mets uniform. This is my body. This is what my skin looks like. I'm completely nude right now. Now please, I am trying to read the NY Times cooking section. Apparently they have a recipe for pasta

I don't care about any claims made in this article besides this: the brain does not work like a computer and people who glibly tell you that they are on the verge of creating machines that can think like us are charlatans

The people arguing that Yglesias thinks he's so smart are missing the point. He doesn't care if he's smart. He's an elitist who believes he is better and more deserving of wealth than you because he grew up rich.

berserk @worstplace.bsky.social · 05/10/2026
Yglesias understands that the value of his degree is not derived from what it's in, but where it's from. He is fundamentally incurious and does not place any value on learning unless it happens to be within the confines of an institution that will allow you to print money using its name.
