Finally emerged victorious from another round of finals, and thus my social media hibernation is over. I’m looking forward to a summer of #Booksky and more time than ever for edits!

Left the windows open yesterday not even considering that my whole desk would be covered in pollen… including my laptop. What a way to start the day. #booksky #indieauthor #writingcommunity

I’m horrified by what’s going on at colleges across the US. My international friends and peers are terrified that their student visas will be revoked or that when they leave for the summer they won’t be allowed back in. It’s already happened to hundreds. Don’t let this get swept under the rug.

The semester is almost over, but between internship applications and… 😒 group work 😒… I’m finding it harder to sit down and write for any longer than an hour or two. Edits are even worse. Progress is progress I guess! 📖 #booksky #writingcommunity #writersky #indieauthor

I love taking inspiration from sources that seem anathema to the genre I’m writing in. SCP in fantasy? That’s a big yes from me. #booksky #writingcommunity #indieauthor #skywriters

A lot of creative folks are demoralized right now. Hell, I'm one of them. Maybe some of them are helping you through this rough time. If so, do me a solid: Share their stuff. Drop them a kind word. Tip their Ko-fis, or join their Patreons. It seems like nothing, but it's everything right now. 🤘

One of the hardest things to do as a writer is to let yourself be done. I wrapped revisions on a chapter today, but there’s still that voice telling me that it isn’t quite good enough… I’ll take another crack at it tomorrow. #booksky #authorsky #writing

Currently running a sequel to my original D&D campaign with a 600 year time jump. My biggest struggle is remaining reverential of campaign one while allowing the second to stand on its own. I struggle with series like Legend of Korra because they fail to walk that tightrope. Any tips? #dnd #dm #d&d

Starting the day with dry academic writing to then switch over to the novel is never not funny. Depending on the day, I’ve either added a great many adjectives to my thesis or inserted a footnote in my worldbuilding. Good times. #booksky #authorsky #academia

Mohrae, the sister province of Teldari, hosts the Seven Cities of Magic. Each city is patron to a College of Magic, such as Klalice to Conjuration and Flamora to Illusion. With unique cultures, architecture, and stories, we’ll explore each in the coming weeks. #booksky #authorsky #fantasy #magic

First week on #Booksky has been amazing. Y’all have been so welcoming and kind. I’m currently working on getting my website and blog launched, but is there anything y’all would recommend to an indie author? What’s worked for you? And readers, what do you want to see from me? Thank you in advance!

I always like comparing the experience of writing to that of DMing a D&D Campaign. Biggest takeaway: Your world can be as cool and developed as you want, but at the end of the day, the audience is there for the characters. #BookSky #Authorsky #Dungeons&Dragons

What makes you different from the next writer? Too often new writers try to slide into the trend that is selling well. Maybe it's vampire sex this week, or alternative WWII steampunk or a chick lit book on dating a nongendered person. #writingcommunity #booksky #differences

The cities of Teldari, the heartland of the empire, and the festering pits of bureaucratic rot. Twelve noble houses rule the six cities, two to each. What may have been intended to bring harmony has only led to rivalry and strife that consumes the lives of everyday citizens. #BookSky #AuthorSky

Map spotlight! The continent of Verloren is the setting of the first series in the World of Rishalda. The Empire of Catava looms large, but whispers of rebellion echo from the cities of Teldari to the sands of Sodep. Happy to do an AMA if y’all have questions! #Booksky #Authorsky #Fantasy

Writing is 99% self-loathing and beating yourself up and 1% getting down a good sentence and being like, yeah that one's a banger.

In the crazy state of the world today, I often find it difficult to dedicate the time and space to sit down and write. It feels so small in comparison to the sea of troubles we’re wading through. But when I do, I am given the chance to imagine a better world. It’s magical, in its own way. #Booksky

Finishing the first draft of my novel was exhilarating. Putting to page this grand idea I’d spent years developing has been one of the greatest achievements of my life. As I continue to chip away at this beast I’ve created, it always helps knowing that, in my eyes, I’ve achieved so much. #booksky

In a time where the emperor’s roads are no safer than the deepest, darkest corners of Vadaka, the taverns and roadside inns have become a place of solace for lonely travelers and adventuring parties alike. The sound of music fills the walls, and stories of crypts and caverns stretch into the night.

The Empire of Catava looms large over the continent, dominating all lands and their people. And yet, the nobility continually presses against the limits of their power, and many in the hinterlands yearn for greater freedom from the domineering Imperial Army.
