A stolen video is a convenient distraction when your legislative record is indefensible.
Shannon Bird is treating a stolen video like a political lifeline because it's all she’s got in this race. Her actual legislative record of working against the interests of her constituents is toxic and indefensible.

Bird spent years siding with corporate interests and conservative legislators against legislation for immigrant rights, worker protections, and racial justice reforms. Those weren't isolated votes. She has been a consistent obstacle to the very values she now claims to champion.

Now that voters are paying attention, Bird wants them focused on anything else – anything except the votes she cast, the interests she serves, and the people she let down.

We’re standing firmly in love, healing, and solidarity today. There must be no place for antisemitism or any other form of hate in our state.
Today, we hold fast with our Jewish siblings in Colorado, as they seek justice, healing and solidarity. This is a hard and painful day. We remember the shattered peace of a sunny Sunday in Boulder a year ago, and must face the man whose rage-fueled antisemitism burned innocent people alive.

Nothing that happens in court today can change what was broken and lost on June 1st. But perhaps it can be the beginning of a new peace. Maybe, even as pain rises in response to both today's hearing and the approach of this awful anniversary, Colorado can choose to show the world what it means to hold each other in love and community instead of leaning deeper into division and despair.
We lift these hopes high, and we rededicate ourselves to making them a reality, today and each day to come. There must be no place for antisemitism or any other form of hate in our state. We hope that the memory of June 1st might serve as a call for all of us to lean into the work to repair this broken world. In honor of the victims of that day, we renew our pledge to continue that work until it is done, and Colorado is made a place in which *all* of us truly belong and are welcomed -- no exceptions.

Hurting innocent people does nothing to heal anyone’s pain, it only harms all of us. That’s why leaders across Colorado are united in welcoming the El Gamal family home and rejecting efforts to pit our communities against each other. Join us: actionnetwork.org/forms/sign-o...
Joint Statement From Colorado Community Leaders Welcoming the El Gamal Family HomeLast year, in a powerful show of solidarity in the wake of the June 1st antisemitic firebombing on Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall, over one hundred of Colorado's Jewish and immigrant rights leaders came together to oppose cynical attempts by the Trump administration to turn us against each other. We are proud of the way Coloradans rose both to support those directly harmed by the attack -- who we wish continued healing and peace -- and to defend those who were targeted after, and we remain committed to efforts to confront antisemitism, xenophobia, and all other forms of hate. (1/4)Now, we as community leaders in Colorado are coming together once more to celebrate the release of the El Gamal family, who were not involved in the attack, but were abducted by ICE in response to it anyway. United as one, we also condemn the lengthy imprisonment and cruel mistreatment - including denial of needed medical care - the family endured in a privatized immigrant detention center in Texas.
