If the US thought that its only way out of the Iran fiasco was to deploy nuclear weapons, might it not try to pave the way by securing assurances against retaliation from Russia, China, and North Korea. Who might it "throw under the bus" to achieve those assurances. A question worth asking, perhaps?

"The problem is not the problem. The problem is that the cause of the problem is not the problem." Thinking about how we encounter and respond to things that need fixing.

"Wattle blossoms fade. Now come the ripening pods. Bright birds soon will feast." The blossoms on our wattle tree here have finished. We used to be sad when that happened. But last year, we saw the seed pods form. The birds came. They set up a cheery song. #OneDipOfThePen #Australia
A square card with a photo of our Australian wattle tree. The sweet yellow blossoms are gone and in their place are ripening seed pods. The accompanying text reads, "Wattle blossoms fade. Now come the ripening pods. Bright birds soon will feast." Andy C. Wood One dip of the pen.

Heritage People infographic titled “How We Use AI,” explaining that AI is used as a dialogic studio assistant for thinking, testing, drafting, editing, planning, scheduling, and accessibility support. The image emphasises that AI does not replace judgement, scholarship, lived experience, professional care, or ethical responsibility, and concludes: “AI has a place at our workbench, where its use can be guided by human craft, judgement, and care.”

Another Matteo fragment. #OneDipOfThePen sunburntspeculations.com/2026/05/10/m...
Alt text: A contemplative image shows a bearded man in a dark coat and hat seated on a weathered wooden bench beside a river or waterfront, looking toward unseen passing ferries. Overlaid handwritten text reads: “Matteo sits on the weathered bench and watches the passing ferries. He does not notice the thin metal plaque pressing against his back, preserving memory of Kay and Sophie and their lasting friendship.” The image is softly lit and reflective in tone, with the hashtags “#OneDipOfThePen” and the name “Andy C. The Imaginative Mediator: Courage, the Thread, and the Work of Abiding
Over the past few months I've been working with one foot planted firmly in the ground of dispute resolution design and the other in the literature of classic fairy tales as I've worked at developing a vocabulary that might help bridge the imaginative space between those two fields. Somewhere in that space between literary reflection and dispute resolution practice, these stories have been helping me think about courage, friendship, care, and the difficult art of abiding with and within conflict.
