Just a garden variety. ⬅️ (that is funny as hell to me). Sometimes irreverent, never cruel. Following experts, thinkers and funny sumbitches because their humanity helps fix my heart. Sharing mostly bird stuff because birds are amazing.

Uh, but they often don't? The issue isn't traction or lack thereof, it's clearance.

I wondered about that, too. We had a plumber once who said he saw more gummed up starchy pasta water issues than grease, and to always run extremely hot water while you're draining pasta to keep it from gumming up your pipes. I took his advice.

I love it (seriously), but it's not a sedan.

From personal experience, it's a great four season car within cities where deep snow is quickly cleared (esp. the all-wheel drive models), but like a lot of sedans, the lower to the ground profile means problems getting through deeper accumulation on longer/rural to urban commutes in the snow belt.

That's got to be the one. My little sisters and I watched it with a babysitter (we were little and mom wasn't too happy when she found out). We still talk about how terrifying it was!

Growing up, most of the men & women in my mom's family were blue collar Union plant workers. Four lost their hearing beginning in their forties, most ended up with bad backs and gnarled hands. I can't tell you how many times we children heard "go to college" from all of them.

The best Lit courses I had in high school were ones where our teachers assigned several books for the semester & they were read aloud and analyzed in class. It was interactive! We learned insight & analysis! We learned about the authors & the worlds they inhabited that led to the books they wrote.

I've been through so many protein bars...Power Crunch was a marketing lie crash out. The closest I've gotten to tolerable is Kellogg's Special K Brownie Batter, but I suspect it's just a rice krispie treat coated in cocoa dust.

I also wonder if part of the friction here is in what type of interview. There's a subtle self-regard in bringing a coffee to an interview that floats in white collar/academic settings, but might be frowned upon for say a driver or a factory job or a cashier. It's not a good thing, but it's real.

Used to mix peanut butter and grape jelly together, and then stir in a bunch of corn flakes and press the concoction into a cake pan. My sibs and I would cut it into squares and eat it like super messy rice krispie treats.

As someone who grew up in a decent rural public school system & has watched that system unravel, I feel for everyone dealing with this. For our part, after agonizing about it we moved in middle school to a tonier zip code so our children could benefit from both the education & the doors it unlocks

That's really great advice for those who can. I needed to find adult outdoor activities to get through long, dark winters, & downhill skiing turned out to be so much fun that I actually began to look forward to winter. It's a good gateway to cross-country too, which is much less pricey.

Given all the *flails hands* you all deserve one of the most adorable pictures I took of Baby Bird Season 2026. A snowy ploverlet peeking through a little sand shrub. Perhaps a once in a lifetime shot. 🪶 🐣

The Mall was also a place that many rural teens drove to on the weekends to shop, eat, catch a movie, hang out in your best clothes to see and be seen. It was cool on Monday to casually drop that you went to the mall and hung out in the city. There was something aspirational there. I'd read it.
