I'm not sure what we do need to talk about this actually. I think we can do other things.
a youtube video with the title "We NEED to talk about the grooming in Lady and the Tramp 2..."

Second, he says "The driver had the large sun visor down. On it were printed manufacturer’s instructions about how to operate the bus". But that's how visors on cars work, not buses. Bus visors are translucent and tinted like sunglasses.

so for research reasons, i'm reading what's supposedly *the* textbook on homicide investigation, and this dude straight up says that sometimes you should consult psychics
Psychics
Te professional homicide detective uses many tools in the investigation to assist in the retrieval of information, some of which may be inaccessible through ordinary methods. A somewhat sensational and ofen controversial practice is the use of psychics. The purpose of this section is to provide the investigator with information on the use of a psychic in homicide investigations.
Practically speaking, police ofcers are naturally skeptical of psychics and psychic phenomena. However, from an investigative point of view, anything that has proven to be successful in one investigation should certainly be considered in other cases. It should be noted that information provided by the psychic may not always be accurate and in some instances may have no value to the investigation. However, this should not discourage authorities from using a psychic, especially in homicide cases where information is limited. The use of a psychic can be considered as an additional investigative aid.

just stumbled on this and it's Don Hertzfeldt explaining exactly my feelings about Letterboxd, Goodreads, etc and why I don't use them. I wrote about this on my old blog forever ago but this is a way better distillation of what I was trying to say lol
Reddit user EngineFrequent3873 asks "How does it feel that "It's Such A Beautiful Day" is among Letterbox's highest rated films?"

Reddit user donhertzfeldt replies "that's a nice thing to hear but it's also poison, poison, poison for someone like me to think about, but while we're on the subject, letterboxd is obviously a really great place for finding new things to watch and sharing recommendations with friends, and it seems to be run by super wonderful people. but platforms like this with the endless rankings and lists and star ratings and the love and the hate also kind of make me feel wrung out. we already have film critics and they serve an important function... audiences don't need to be thinking like critics, they should be having a natural experience with a film without in the backs of their heads planning ratings and stars and lists and arguments, or scurrying to file a review after sitting with something for only five minutes as though they're on a deadline. it all just feels like work to me. but also maybe people enjoy this and what do i know"

okay i figured it out. there's almost literally a "do it good" preset that makes it look good and also goes from 27GB to 2GB. Colors aren't as good, but it's a trade I'm willing to make in this case. Comparison of original vs first attempt vs new setting

I love when I'm watching a low budget movie and I can tell what After Effects tutorial they watched when making it. Like this shot from Killer Thong on Tubi, where they 100% followed Wren's "Electric Hands" tutorial on aetuts+

just learned about aidatacentermap.org, which is trying to organize a protest in August against AI data centers. Yet it's run by a "conscious technology venture" that sells Pixel phones with Graphene, and they used "primarily cloud-based LLMs" to build their site and map. This is fishy as fuck.
Did you use AI to build this?
Yes — primarily cloud-based LLMs, with some locally hosted AI, alongside manual web development and data work. While we'd have preferred to build it entirely by hand (or with local-only AI), we believe this is exactly the kind of use AI should be put to: preventing widespread harm and kickstarting community action.Who built this?
This is an effort brought to you by the conscious technology venture Above Phone.

/r/bald pisses me off sometimes. This is on top of the sub rn to convince people to go full bald but this is a perfect example of why it's not always the right call! Left George looks like an interesting, unique person. Right George looks like every other bald guy in the world. It's boring.
