Sometimes it’s strikingly obvious how inefficient cars are as a mode of transport in cities. Just imagine this street closed to motor traffic and opened up to people walking and cycling instead. more space, less noise, and a much better city.

Two hours in Vienna. One train stopover. Instead of sitting on the platform, we borrowed shared bikes and pedalled the length of Argentinierstraße: Vienna’s first Dutch-style fietsstraat; where cars are guests and bikes set the pace. Sometimes you don't need a whole day to discover a city by bike.

Went to a barber shop for the first time in my life today and really enjoyed it! A shave, a “haircut” and a genuinely nice experience. I’d noticed the place many times while cycling past on my daily commute and the secure bike parking right outside finally convinced me to stop.

Due to a change in Austrian law, heavy e-scooters used mainly by delivery riders are no longer considered bicycles . A change I support. But they’re not legally mopeds or motorcycles either. So overnight, perfectly usable vehicles become illegal to operate and effectively waste. That makes no sense.

I find construction-site barriers like this genuinely dangerous. They completely block visibility while forcing cyclists, scooter riders and pedestrians onto the same narrow path. You simply can’t see who’s coming. Collisions aren’t surprising here they’re designed in.

That’s a road I use regularly, and it’s genuinely frightening. @wien.gv.at promised to replace this painted bike lane with proper, safe cycling infrastructure in 2026. It’s almost September, and they haven’t even started. A painted line is not infrastructure.

Vienna’s 15th district used to have a pretty rough reputation. What a transformation: today, it features some really nice neighborhoods thanks in no small part to less car traffic, pedestrianized streets and more space for people. Urban design matters.

Finished another bike build yesterday, at least for now. I bought the frame two years ago for its color and classic geometry. It rides well, though I’m not fully satisfied yet. But cycling isn’t always about perfection, sometimes a beautiful bike simply makes you want to ride.
