Not only no culture, but no *commons*. The dependency on the capitalist overlords will be complete, because you can’t ask for help or context from others when there is no common frame of reference. This has already happened in coding, the first space where they destroyed the commons we’d all built.

A U.S. charity in Gaza is worried that teachers at its schools might stray from a curriculum it says promotes peace and tolerance, so it plans to record classroom conversations and use artificial intelligence to flag speech deemed “hateful” or “inciting.”

Checkmate is fine, and the point remains that both Zionism and anti-Zionism are protected beliefs is the point. I'm aware of the statement you refer to but not of the investigation you mention - in any case that language is not in the motion bsky.app/profile/wjon...

For us, it is not the motion that poses a threat to Jews, but the media storm around the motion, which is presenting Zionism as if it is some sort of protected Jewish characteristic. This is extremely dangerous and incredibly offensive. Stop it.

Yes, but you would be much more cynical if you thought that Charlie handed over his brother on the basis that the investigation into his dealings with Chinese spies was halted.

Or does Israel overnight magic unicorn itself, to borrow a phrase, into a functioning democracy based on equal rights for all?

wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The German and European Green parties are, which is hardly surprising. If the Israel in your 2-state solution will not be an ethnostate, which Israel as it is now very much is, then what will it be?
100
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
your commitment to a two-state solution means you do quite literally support an ethnostate. sincere apologies if that makes you uncomfortable.

If you're good with maintaining support for an ethnostate within a 'two-state solution' then crack on, but it's perfectly reasonable for a political party to decide that this is not a view it wants to be present within its membership or its policymaking.
100
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Once again, the motion doesn't call for forcible removal of Israelis, but for a unitary state that is not an ethnostate. Your two-state solution is the only approach that maintains an ethnostate as a central feature, and is hardly going well re: displacement, genocide, or a clear roadmap.

wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
I'm good for commentary on my state of mind, altho thanks for sharing. And it does beggar belief to take a 'won't someone think of the potential difficulties' position re: a unitary state, when a 2-state solution is hardly providing to be either achievable or non-violent.
000
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Also how do you think an ethnostate 'happens', in the sense of what are the consequences of maintaining Israel as that? There you don't have to speculate, because the realities of Gaza and the West Bank are fully available.

wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
Gotta love how this leads you to find fault with the motion rather than reflect on your own ongoing support for an ethnostate.

wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
A single democratic state does not = removing Jews.
100
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
As a unitary single state for everyone living there. Really unclear why this is complicated.
010
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The motion says nothing of the sort re: Jews should cease to exist in the area. There's also nothing very complicated about supporting an ethnostate.
100
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
The motion doesn't go down that route though - it's not specifically applicable to Jewish party members, and will be implemented using existing anti-racist rules and procedures (thus giving the opportunity to 'account for the reasons' for membership of a Zionist organisation).
100
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
If that's the case, then why would an amendment be reassuring?
000
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I'd really caution against using Jews and Zionists interchangeably, tbh. And given that the motion doesn't provide any means for people to be 'hunted down' (it'll be implemented via existing anti-racist party procedures), rejecting the amendment is rejecting that (inaccurate) framing.

I think it's a poor choice of language in that context, precisely because it gives rise to conversations like this, but wanting international justice is not an unusual or illegitimate aim.
100
wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I mean do I dream of a glorious future in which Zionist war criminals will be brought before an international court or special tribunal? Sure. Is that what happened to the Nazis? Yes. Would I use personally that language in that context? No. None of that has anything to do with the motion.

wjonez.bsky.social @wjonez.bsky.social · 06/10/2026

Because the motion does not change the existing party disciplinary procedures that will be used to enforce it, and is quite clear about its scope. An amendment that addresses risks that don't exist/have ben ruled out in this way is rightfully voted down bsky.app/profile/anns...

It's reporting on the German Greens, with a side order of European Greens - neither of their takes are surprising. 'Across Europe' is not accurate.
