I’m heading to @CodeForAmerica ‘s Summit 2025 and excited to see so many of you! I also built a hasty thing I thought you might find fun: gov0logy.us/survey Take a “.gov or not” survey and give .us the vibes on which domains may need a sunset strategy.

was challenged by a friend a few weeks back to lay out what I mean when I talk about "raising the floor" in the context of government tech - uh which I do, a lot. I think I've got it tied down to 5 things, wanna see em? I'm interested if this resonates.

.@slifty.bsky.social called the Social Security Administration to get a typo fixed on his kid's card, and the recording says applicants have to wait 6–8 months to have their benefits application processed. That is *more* than enough time for the average American to slide into homelessness.

So far my absolute favorite @bsky.app feature is that links *just work* by opening right in my actual web browser. not some jailed sandbox that affronts my sanity and requires an extra “…” dance every time

One of the fun channels on the 18F slack was #hi where you were only supposed to post “hi” when you needed it. I needed this

I've known Lindsay for 16 years and she's absolutely the best. She also is the outgoing executive director of 18F. Read what she has to say.

I wonder how long until the right confluences align and make our Independence Day fireworks completely virtual - like you tune in (on TV or Glasses) and see sights and hear sounds but there’s no pollution or physical cleanup…

What are the best FOSS text analysis tools or examples for law nowadays? Goals: - compare similar bills - overlay referenced definitions I used to know but fear the world has changed. (You can tell me your fav paid versions too.)
