Flock ignored multiple requests to take down their cameras after the City of Verona did not renew the contract. So this is where we are at. You can't trust Flock. Dane County needs to take their Flock cameras down.

ICE terrorizes our communities and we refuse to stay silent. Come out this Friday for a Community Action Fair to turn anger into organized action. There will be Know Your Rights trainings, screen printing, banner making, and a community donation drive.

Flyer for the “Midwest Melts ICE Community Action Fair.” Event details: Friday 1/16 at Madison Labor Temple, 1602 S. Park Street, from 2 PM to 7 PM. Activities include Know Your Rights trainings at 3 PM, 4:30 PM, and 6 PM; banner making from 4:30 to 6:30 PM; screen printing all day; and donation drop-off for Minneapolis all day. Text reads “Mad? Do something!” Illustration shows a person in a yellow coat labeled “ACAB” holding an umbrella as ice melts beneath them.

Graphic titled “Current Donation Needs Include.” Text lists requested items: over-the-counter medication, menstrual products, canned chicken and tuna, canned fruits and vegetables, canned beans, mac and cheese, ramen, and toiletries. The graphic instructs viewers to check the post caption and @joyceuptown on Instagram for updates and includes digital donation options. Decorative illustration of melting ice in the background.

Reminder: International Women's Day celebrates **women** (ALL women). By all means, wish the women in your life a happy IWD! Remember tho that non-binary folks are not women-lite*, and trans men are not women (you may be shocked to hear that they are, in fact, men).

Finally got a release of my Knave character generator up on NPM. I’ll be adding a lot more generators, but finally figured out how to package it up! github.com/riccjohn/osr-generators www.npmjs.com/package/osr-generators

When I have my bath robe on, I'm constantly knocking things over with these sleeves and getting them wet. Wizards must have been having a rough time with those robes too.

Had a great conversation with @bjessbrown.com and @jeremysmith.co on the @indierails.com podcast! Listened to this on the way home and I'm happy they pulled the takeaway up front. 😅

I haven't heard anyone really talking about how the inability for Americans to get software updates for TikTok is going to create a security nightmare for users. "Preventing" the full ban of TikTok in the US and leaving partial infrastructure is leaving users extremely vulnerable to attack.

I've definitely been stuck in "preparing mode" for playing OSE solo, but I'm going to push through and actually start! Getting my characters set up on index cards today, then it's straight into Tomb of the Serpent Kings this week 🤞 #osr #ose #solorpg

Generally we think of alt-text as the domain of those with accessibility needs. However alt-text is useful for many reasons, which benefit your viewers, as well as you, the creator!

An infographic. There are six panels.

1. "Slow internet. Alt text is shown in place of unloaded images." a drawing shows a phone with poor signal, and alt text is visible where the image should have loaded.

2. "Findabillity. Alt text helps to search content." A drawing shows someone searching 'dog with banana' and a post is shown underneath without the words 'dog' or 'banana'. It is implied to be part of the alt text.

3. "Screen readers. Alt is read out to people using text-to-speech software". There is a drawing of the output a screen-reader would show when viewing an image with alt text on bluesky.

4. "Translation. Alt text can be translated". A drawing shows a post being translated. The alt text is also translated into german.

5. "Readability. Text in images can be made legible" There is a drawing of some truly awful handwriting inside a speech bubble. The alt text clarifies what the text is supposed to say.

6. "Disambiguation. Description helps clarify intent." There is a drawing of a post with a picture of a creature. This is styled after the famous optical illusion of a rabbit and a duck. The alt text clarifies that the animal is a rabbit. It definitely looks more like a duck.

Caves of Qud arguably makes more extensive use of the Z axis and could thus be called "3D Skyrim"
