And finally: @guygavrielkay.bsky.social talks re: history & his “quarter turn” to the fantastic, but Terry Pratchett did it too (more a half-turn in his case). I came across an interview with one of the surviving participants from the barricades of Cable Street. spitalfieldslife.com/2026/10/03/b...

Apparently in my area, it’s the season when wasps are looking to the sugary things on my plate & in my glasses, the larvae to whom they used to feed meat in exchange for sweet treats having grown up & gone. Yesterday, as it licked root beer off the edge of a glass, I saw a wasp’s TONGUE. #TinyJoys

I wake up most mornings thinking, “I’m so tired.” In my case, I *know* it will get better as my body readjusts to the new timetable & to the decreased sun, but it’s hard to *believe* it will, and it still takes a while. So I’m sending hugs to you.

I do (am in my 50s, always liked sending them); I print out the addresses on stickers ahead of time, buy postcards on trips, and mail them when I get home (Canada) where it’s mostly local postage.

In this aisle, however, I fear that someone misunderstood the assignment...
An end-shelf with statues in the same shop as the werewolf, and near the other Hallowe'en decor. On these three shelves stand, from top to bottom: two angels flanked by geese the same size as the angels; six bunny statues, two small ones in the centre holding flowers, flanked by two larger bunnies on each side wearing tee-shirts & overalls, waving & holding little signs that say "welcome"; two more angels that match those on the top shelf flanked by *different*, slightly larger & of a different colour.

I watched a golden lab at CDN Tire today, wagging its tail happily as it gazed up at this:
An 8-foot tall animatronic werewolf wearing a plain shirt & dark pants, with furry paws & chest and a huge head with open mouth, stands in a shop display in front of other hallowe'en items. Occasionally it moves & roars, but I didn't catch that.

What a cool bargain. I may crib your notes… The first time Trump took the presidency in the US, a friend of mine down there made a vow: every time he got angry about something Trump did, he’d drop & do a push-up. Then ten. By the end of the first year he was … swole, I guess …
