The Supreme Court case tomorrow is fundamentally not about gender affirming care, it's about whether or not trans people have any protections under the 14th amendment. A loss in this case would greenlight a torrent of explicitly discriminatory legislation without much, if any judicial recourse.

I see a lot of concern in yuri spaces for male gaze when it comes to basically anything with on page sex and quite honestly I'm more concerned about the opposite. the kind of male gaze that sees women as too pure to even think about hand holding is a much more insidious form of objectification.

The people who are doing it often don't know that they are doing it or pretend that they do not. The repetition and the dailiness make it seem normal. It is very difficult to try to imagine a life without this constant diminishment. And the depths ofits consequences coupled with its total lack ofjustification are alienating to fully realize. The reinscription of these cruelties within our own trusting, loving relationships is difficult to articulate, because there is no place to do so. When review- ing our errors of understatement, they seem innocent, childlike. How sad that so many of our oversimplifications were caused by our love and trust of other human beings, and our consequent inability to understand how they could be so ruthless in exploiting their advantages over us. Proactive protagonists that push the plot forward of their own volition. This definitely just goes beyond lesbian/sapphic fiction, but a lot of current literature structure their plots around characters responding to external pressures, not being the active agent themselves.

It is a great tragedy that I adore the concept of fanfic—the idea that you can play with a pre-established setting and characters in a myriad of different ways—and yet I can't read it 95% of the time as I'm too much of a stickler for prose and plot structure to enjoy it.
