When you need a dermatologist but you visit the family doctor instead. #datavis (What I mean is that a generic graphic designer is not necessarily good at designing with data.)

"You are not stuck in traffic, you are the traffic". Well, it depends. If you're on the *bus* you are stuck in traffic. if you're in a *car*, then yes, you are the traffic.

So, Microsoft, you risk annoying 1000's paying users for each new upgrade? That's brilliant.

A population pyramid is a simple chart. You just have to: ❌Plot two visually balanced series; ❌Make them easy to compare (plot on a single side of the x axis) ❌Young at the bottom, Old at the top. Interesting to see that a relevant newspaper here in PT (Expresso) still doesn't get it. #datavis

Why isn't the 23rd of June a public holiday in the UK? The National Blunder Day, or something.

Nice to see great new #Excel functions that solve (very) longtail problems and can be used for Linkedin posts, while confusing everyone else. Meanwhile, we still have to use a chart engine from 1985.

I've just done the largest update to the #dataviz starter pack, with 30 accounts (20%) replaced. It means it will generate more content now. Might be worth re-clicking. Sadly, gender imbalance got worse. I saved 5 spots for women-run accounts. Send suggestions, including yourself! Replies or DMs.

I will not share the video here, but I discussed it with my sons and they pointed out several other non-data issues. "Would you like to try something like this?" I asked. "Sure!" I'd love to instill some #datavis into their graphic design skills. Maybe this is the moment I was waiting for...

Watching a video describing a sector. A few debatable visualization choices, ok. Then this (not the original, I'm replicating the spirit but not the design details). This is supposed to be a respectable data-driven organization. Not sure I can unsee this and respect them again (#datavis -wise).
Pie chart titled "WAGES IN THIS SECTOR". A large blue slice takes up most of the circle and is labeled "85.2% of the national average", while a smaller light gray slice completes the remaining portion of the chart.

It is a most extraordinary thing, but I never read a patent medicine ad w/o being impelled to the conclusion that I'm suffering from the particular disease therein dealt with in its most virulent form. The diagnosis always seems to correspond exactly with all the sensations that I have ever felt.

Nice to see Jeff working with proper primary data. Judging from my experience with smart irrigation, ETL is > dashboards (cowboards?); understanding the data (going beyond generic metrics and KPI) is a priority and small multiples are easy to sell.

- Estou a cagar, caralho! Estou a cagar!

I'll update the starter pack. I'm looking for accounts that are posting dataviz regularly. It is not a who's who, it is not meant to bring followers, it doesn't surface rare posters. Its purpose is to bring dataviz content to its subscribers. Suggestions?
