Starmers strategy for sure and you may be right about the carrot metaphor - also would Farage open the door with such a weak candidate and Lowe dilute the far right vote if the intent was to block Burnham? Everything is a Kabuki dance Burham could well be another trojan horse full of false hope.

Restore can demonstrate its power by enabling Burnham to win at Makerfield, which he more than likely will, given Kenyon's chequered past. Those engineering this situation appear to want Burnham to succeed - the concern is Burnham simply replaces a passive Starmer as placeholder - and does little!

Burnham is a threat as he could form a progressive alliance to challenge a far-right alliance. I suspect Starmer is more influenced by our 'US friends', evidenced by Mandelsons appointment. Of course we cannot rule out a similar dynamic involving Burnham given his association with Mandelson.

Musk and Lowe are aiming to increase their negotiating power with Farage/Reform at the next GE, Makerfield is a stepping stone in this regard, inevitably the far-right axis of hate will form an alliance. As will the progressive parties, lead by Labour if Rayner or Burnham gain Labour leadership.

We need a new strategy for the country and to re-engineer politics, economics and society using MMT as a funding mechanism to deliver it. I fear if this govt doesn't devise a new strategy the US/Russian billionaires backing Farage will and it wont be in our interests but theirs.

Early days on road to AGI, transformer/LLM architectures are limited/need lots of optimisation hence won't be able to deliver AGI. However, these architectures will be innovated over time. Many jobs will disappear as AI and humanoid capacities are enhanced. This is why the tech bro's want control!

Blair’s fossil-fuel-friendly intervention looks like an attempt to slow Britain’s green transition. No surprise he’s being platformed alongside Farage and the Tories, different brands, same outcome - keeping the UK dependent on oil and gas while clean energy gets undermined by nonsense

Male-pattern violence mars every society, and physical, sexual and emotional violence go hand in hand. We should rise in peace and strength against it, everywhere.

We need to build societies where slow thinking, accountability, and normal behaviour have enough structural support to restrain fast thinking and the above extreme behaviours. A peace movement to protect women and children from such violence is a great idea.

Projection alongside 'ironic hunting' of what they see in the mirror for sure. Thoughts of self-moral failures don't get a look in with this lot instead emotionally driven cognition is constructing a coherent self-justifying story. Sadly partner-beating knuckle draggers & mouth breathers also vote.

Farage doesn’t care. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia… Reform can go for it. It didn’t make any difference in America. Trump boasted about his own toxicity and won. Farage is hoping he can do the same here. Just disgraceful that he stands a chance. www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/poli...
Reform UK's candidate in the Makerfield by-election has been accused of making
"degrading" comments about women in another series of resurfaced online posts.
An account linked to Robert Kenyon - who is running against Andy Burnham in the crucial vote - wrote that women can't "ref, drive or give directions" and declared: "I'm sexist, sorry but I am."A spokesperson for Reform UK did not dispute the latest resurfaced comments but instead dismissed them as "locker room banter". In 2016, Donald Trump infamously defending himself after a leaked tape heard him boasting about groping women by describing it as "locker room talk".

Noise to create even more division. At this rate they’ll demand 'balance' by having a man explain women’s toilets to two women and then call it safeguarding when he’s peering under cubicle doors checking who qualifies to pee.

We had best of all worlds previously. We were lied to by Farage, Johnson & Gove about Brexit. We, as you implied by the Geeks comment, just needed to interpret EU rules to our advantage back then. Now we need to preserve monetary sovereignty, maximise SC integration, and pick the best fit option.

The catalyst that could accelerate the baked-in financial crisis is not yet fully visible, a ground war in Iran. It remains obscured by talk of a permanent ceasefire. Those talks or agreements likely collapse well b4 midterms if Trump intends to invoke war powers and avoid going into the election.

He's signalling America’s new aggressive posture. They already told us a new bully had entered the geopolitical arena when they rebranded to Dept. of War. If they launch a ground war in Iran, we should believe what they have been telling us as this is not just about easy targets like Venezuela.

More pertinently, are Reform candidates generally selected because they are willing to “push the boundaries” of acceptable discourse? The logic seems to be if they can say it, others can think it. In this instance using misogyny to dehumanise & objectify Carol becos she challenges their rw dogma.

Since taking power, Starmer has steadily shifted the Overton Window to the right, channelling support toward Reform in service of the establishment. The establishment, which controls Starmer, aims to impose an authoritarian government, strip away our rights, and enforce its agenda on the public.

Through his AI policy & his defence policy, Starmer’s approach is dangerous & irresponsible It enmeshes us ever deeper into dependence on the US. We really are losing our sovereignty, but to America, not the EU. & all shrouded by a pantomime of wanting “foreigners out”🤦‍♀️

Foreigners out is the smoke and mirrors with the same old same old 'special relationship' yet this is different, the US wants to put neoliberalism on steroids and exploit us much more than it has in the past and Farage is their man to hand over everything they want.

The drift to UK authoritarianism is gaining speed. Fortunately we can see these moves play out in America and can hopefully avoid them here through a progressive alliance if people wake up in time. The alternative is UK ICE under Reform and Trumps lap dog. Surely we are too pragmatic for that?

This so called enrichment approach has been monitored for about 25 years - if Iran wanted to develop a nuclear bomb it could have done so many years ago - after all it's a 1940's technology. Meanwhile Israel is bombing schools and hospitals in Gaza claiming terrorists whilst killing children.

Exactly, Tories and Reform join to form a single far right party. Then when they get power start their own 'ICE show' to create absolute chaos, get the army on the streets for control, then they achieve their ultimate goal to get us to conform in a police state the next goals of the neoliberalists!

The same challenges apply to the Progressive Britain Alliance as those that face Pepsi v Coke, how can it out-communicate the neoliberal establishment without their media control and backing or financial war chest? The Alliance needs to form now and start raising funds and executing a plan.

There is already one alliance, the UniParty (Lab/Tories/Reform) that represents neoliberal interests, though they are branded like Coca Cola, regular (Tories), Zero (Labour) and Vanilla (-white-Reform). The other parties need to form 'Progressive Britain' alliance and become Pepsi.
