The Netherlands joins Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom in expressing deep concern over the Israeli death penalty bill ahead of its parliamentary vote. The Netherlands is principally against the death penalty and urges Israel’s government and Parliament to reconsider this bill.

Today is the World Day Against the Death Penalty. The Netherlands strongly opposes the death penalty at all times and in all circumstances. It is a cruel and inhumane punishment, that does not stop crime and denies human dignity. @netherlandsmfa.bsky.social

NL is concerned about continuing tensions in the West Bank, including an increase of settler violence. The attack against Palestinian filmmaker Hamdan Ballal and others is yet another example. We condemn this and call on Israel to prevent and to prosecute such violence. @netherlandsmfa.bsky.social
