Just mutually dissociated with someone for the first time, didn't even realise what was happening until a ways in. That was interesting to say the least.

FRED is an amazing resource. What I notice in particular from how covid affected many measures, is that the economy is incredibly resilient to external shocks like, say, a global pandemic, but is completely beholden to its own cyclicality.

Why do we assume everyone should be working? - Wilsons Blog
I was talking to a friend of mine and I asked this. She said “of course everyone should be working, I mean, I’d like to be able to buy more stuff” In that statement though there really is a non obviou...

It's wild to me that people aren't up in arms from the findings of Acemoglu and Restrepo 2026.

My prediction: a significant crash, probably around September/October, that we will not be able to recover from without a new model for the economy.

When Henry George wrote his book, he wrote it at a time we needed it the least. Now we need it dearly. It's time we try something new, by trying something old.

A New-ish Theory of Economics - Wilsons Blog
Hi. I’ve thought about this idea for a while, and I think it’s come together almost to completion so, here it is. It’s somewhat related to Georgist theory but a bit different, you’ll see. It’s mostly ...

You shouldn't charge for anything vibecoded. Not because "ai bad" or whatever, but because: if you can vibe code it, your customer could vibe code it, and they know what they need better. Let them work it out, the economy will be better for it.

Labor is a market distortion 🧵: Labor, in economic terms, is a good. People offer their labor (supply) and workplaces create jobs (demand). Except, the supply of labor is forced.

"She's not being nice to you she's nice to everyone" uhh us that meant to make me *less* attracted to her?? Maybe I'm not imagining she likes me but instead I'm attracted to the concept of someone having a kind soul??? (It's definitely both it's definitely both)

Perhaps one of the best pictures of Hubble I ever took
The face of a grey cat resting their head on their white paws while lying down on a bed. Their eyes look off to the right, past the camera.

Considering how long it's had to evolve, and how many functions it had to develop first, advanced reasoning is really just the brains side gig.

Evolution put in all this effort for facial expressions and voice intonation along with special parts of our brains to interpret those and yet we just absolutely had to go off and develop writing.

I've gotten pretty annoyed at the strawberry test for LLMs. It's not a fair test. It’s like showing someone the color teal and asking them how much green there is. Your eyes have green cones, why can't you tell us the percentage of green?

I think Bluesky is nice for the shorter ideas that I don't feel like writing full blogposts about, but now I find myself wanting a "medium" medium. Blogposts make me want to fully formulate my ideas, and many of them don't survive that process.
