Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 28/09/2026An unusual visitor in Nelson today - leopard seal. Spent ages trying to educate people to leave it in peace. Very frustrating that some people have no common sense. (Photo taken by from Ray Wiblin). 001

Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 21/09/2026I think this is happening as retaliation from this current government. Both Susie and Mihi are brilliant. Didn't Peters threaten RNZ before the last election? 110
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 16/09/2026Would be great if the scoreboard image was on a huge billboard next to clusters of political party signs out in every community. 000
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 15/09/2026Am dreading it if the left loses. Am already so incensed by the cruelty and legislative fuckery of this current govt. 020
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 14/09/2026Let's hope they get voted out and a new govt has the balls to overturn all the legislative fuckery they have done. 000
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 14/09/2026We should all chip in to crowd fund some truthful signs against the lies of Nact. This election is fast becoming very dirty/nasty. 120
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 10/09/2026As well as favouring a private healthcare system, they (NACT) want to take women's rights back to the 1800's. Ugh! 010
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Probably worried they'll lose their jobs if they hold Luxon or his cronies to account. Bring back Susie Ferguson & Mihingarangi Forbes. 021
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 20/08/2026This coming election, I want a govt who actually care for all people, use our tax money wisely to lift everyone up, spend it on tangible outcomes: health, education, housing, healthy ecosystems/ healthy biodiversity. Meanwhile back down here on earth dreams are free. I won't hold my breath. 000

Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 05/08/2026So true, current govt is corrupt and cruel. It's OUR tax money ffs, govt should be working for us, using it efficiently to improve health, social issues, education, housing and the environment. If they waste OUR tax money like Nicky No Boats, they should be held accountable. 010
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 03/08/2026So much wastage. There needs to be accountability for crap decisions. 010

Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 01/07/2026Chippy should be called Drippy, Labour needs direction and a better leader if they want to win in the next election. 000
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Me too. I hope at the next election they get voted out and who ever gets in has the balls to change all the legislation fuckery this current govt has created. 060

Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 20/06/2026BIRD FLU You may have seen in the news that the deadly H5N1 bird flu strain has reached Australia. While it hasn't arrived in New Zealand yet, it's important we understand how to protect our native wildlife.... youtu.be/TLCgdAZdTBw?...youtu.beProtecting wildlife from bird flu: know what to doYouTube video by Ministry for Primary Industries 220

Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 31/03/2025In an ideal world... I think everyone involved in species recovery/natural ecosystems regeneration should be supported/funded in some way. 010
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 30/03/2025Something else that never gets mentioned...there are many people rehabilitating injured/orphaned protected species in nz. This work is voluntary and rehabbers pay for it with their own money or fundraise. This work needs support/funding desperately too. 100
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 07/03/2025Hi Andy, Is there a mistletoe propagation guide anywhere? I've tried with Peraxilla colensoi but never had any joy. 110
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 03/03/2025💚 Happy World Wildlife Day! 💚 Today, we celebrate the incredible diversity and beauty of all wildlife and the importance of protecting wildlife for future generations. Here's a wee pic of the two orphaned tūī in my care, they're growing up fast. 030
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 28/01/2025This orphaned tūī chick has come into my care. Definitely a male given the weight and size. l love rehabbing native birds. They are put together so perfectly, the feathers, the colours etc A joy to behold. 021
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 22/01/2025These little beauties (juvenile kingfishers - kōtare) will be released soon. 021
Mel @willmottski.bsky.social · 17/01/2025This juvenile pied cormorant came to me for rehabilitation after being found entwined in fishing line. After some tlc and lots of fish, it's back in the wild where it belongs. 241
