What Derek Chauvin did to George Floyd was a public extrajudicial execution. Keep that in mind when you say we haven't had a public execution since 1936. We have, actually. Many times. They're called police murders.

The 2026 line ran off the top of the Niño 3.4 chart, so Climate Reanalyzer had to raise the ceiling from 30°C to 31°C. Ocean temps in the heart of this El Niño are running about 3°C above the early October average and higher than any other year on record for this time of year.

Prolonged, Dangerous Heat Wave
Much higher than typical October temperatures will impact Coastal Southern California up through the Bay Area and Central Valley through midweek. The expected temperatures will result in Major to Extreme HeatRisk along with numerous daily high temperature records. Heat of this intensity and duration can endanger anyone without adequate cooling or hydration.

High Temperatures, Little Night Relief
Temperatures will run 15 to 20 degrees above normal, pushing coastal areas well into the 90s and adjacent urban and some Central Valley areas into the low 100s. Overnight lows in the mid to upper 70s in the Los Angeles and San Diego urban areas will provide little relief through the heat wave.

Stay Safe in Extreme Heat
Protect yourself and others by staying hydrated, using air conditioning or cooling centers, limiting sun exposure, and checking on vulnerable relatives and neighbors. Never leave children or pets unattended in vehicles, as interior temperatures
