New addition to the studio. Things are sounding much more clean and balanced now. Totally worth it if you can't afford expensive monitors and room treatments.

At one point I made music with a Proteus 2000. That thing was great.

For example, it is possible for my system to do tempo-synced delays, but it is pretty uncommon for it to happen. Now, I can apply the "tempo synced delay" patch a certain percentage of the time, to make it more likely. Other patches could be: "steady hihats" or "make it 12-tet minor", etc.

New concept I just added to my system: Randomly apply "patches" on top of algorithmically-generated snapshots to make certain sweet spots more likely to occur.

I'm starting to think that hiphop is the ultimate form of music. It lights up my brain in so many ways at once. (I suppose it could also be that I grew up listening to it.) This is album of the year material for me. So damn good. afrolab9000.bandcamp.com/album/the-ni...

You can always escape to the back where the bar is. I really hope you come! But I totally understand. I'm worried about that too.

Just had a really good practice session, except the *one time* I tried to recreate something that happened in a previous session, it went sour. This is the way. Do not dishonor the gods of improvisation.

🚨 I'm giving away a free ticket to the Autechre show in Philadelphia (where I'm opening). I'll send out details to my mailing list soon: buttondown.com/williamfields

I really prefer fixing technical things over actually practicing and recording. It's much less scary.
