In other words calling something “rogue” implies it is compliant by default, and AI just isn‘t. Innocuous AI models are only so because they aren’t sophisticated enough to deceive the people monitoring them.

I think you’re right, but also think calling them “rogue rabid cougars” suggests there is merely a rabid cougar alignment problem that further rabid cougar iterations will iron out. I think the current AI coverage grossly misleads about how totally unsolved the alignment problem is and may always be

Biden being boring/consensus was a huge part of it. The failure to harness any cultural momentum from George Floyd/Me Too/Woke 1 into any actual political movement just squandered a huge amount of energy and led us into this really weird incoherent period that fostered a lot of anger and cynicism.
