Hopes for the 2026 Royals: ❌ make the playoffs ❌ winning record ❌ not last in division ✅ Salvy takes the all time Royals HR record

It seems to do better if you say "ask" instead of "tell" but I'm used to being able to say "tell" for sending any kind of message without having to think about whether it's a question or not

“Hey Siri, tell my wife: ‘Who was the 16th president of the United States’” “Abraham Lincoln” 🤦

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 24/09/2026

The new Siri is terrible actually. If you tell it to send someone a message that asks a question it might just try to answer the question for you instead.

It finally felt like fall for my run this morning and I was pleasantly surprised to rediscover what a normal amount of sweat is

000

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 22/09/2026

In my experience the new Siri AI is much worse at sending messages, the task that I most frequently use it for. Slower, has problems matching names to contacts, asks me for the message again, etc

Yeah, that’s where I saw the tariffs. They were just so high that it put me off of making an impulse buy from the sale

100

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 19/09/2026

Thought I might finally grab a Presto but then I remembered the mind-numbingly stupid tariff nonsense. Sorry Pimoroni, hopefully someday

100

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 16/09/2026

Huh. Claude needed to look up some source code for an external library and found it via a tarball in /nix/store instead of discovering that I had the git repo for that library already cloned under ~/src. Fine, I guess!

I really hope that someday jj gets as much support in other tools as git does today. I'd be ecstatic if @zed.dev could use jj as a version control provider

I would really love it if Ohio State could get a kicker that can handle pressure sometime

I was in college studying CS at the time this movie came out and I didn't like the ending because I couldn't imagine leaving tech to work in construction but every time I've rewatched it since then I've started to understand it more and more

This morning I uploaded a high-speed video from my phone to Claude and asked it to make a slow-motion gif of the part where the hummingbird sticks its tongue out. And it did. I dunno, we might be in The Future™️

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 03/09/2026

Other than the image recognition it’s probably mostly simple tool use, but I guess what’s wild to me is that I don’t know that whether video editing is a capability that anyone intentionally built or even guided it towards.

Made some improvements to the “watching baseball” feed so that it picks up quote posts and posts with video bsky.app/profile/did:...

It’s 15 minutes before sunrise and it’s already 80 degrees. That should be illegal.

Probably so! In those situations I think they often look like they regret making the challenge even before they get the result

010

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 29/08/2026

My favorite kind of ABS challenge is when a batter is clearly just trying to save face after striking out looking

Just discovered the rebase functionality in jjui 🤯 I'm going to be slinging around even more changes now.

A browser extension that runs this live on every page would be like wearing the sunglasses from They Live

When I used to do maze books as a kid I usually kept them flat on the table. If only I'd known!

This home stand was the most fun to watch the Royals have been all year

Cooler weather makes a huge difference. This was the first run that I could actually imagine marathon distance being possible.

This is by far the nicest morning for running all summer. Going for 15 this time.

I'm giving it a try and finding it useful so far. One thing that I'd love to be able to do is manage the re-remind settings per task list. For example, only get re-reminded about tasks from this list on the weekend. Or maybe only get re-reminded when a given focus mode is active.

I'd rotate the ducks 90 degrees and call it a day

Cross posting margin highlights to bluesky is pretty neat but I suppose this particular one has a bit of a Michael Scott quoting Wayne Gretsky vibe

The part about using the exe.dev iOS app to create a VM from a short idea as a replacement for just jotting down a note was a major 💡 moment for me

exe.dev

exe.dev - ssh exe.dev

Build apps or SSH into a persistent Linux VM. ssh exe.dev.

Costco changed their bagel packaging from 12 bagels to 8 and while I'm sure that's probably shrinkflation, it's now small enough that we can finish them all before they go stale and still cheaper than the grocery store so I'm ok with it

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 08/07/2026

This is the play bsky.app/profile/timb.... The Royals then went on to win 16-12. That’s baseball I guess

000

Will Gorman @willgorman.net · 05/07/2026

Used exe.dev to build and host my first custom Bluesky feed: bsky.app/profile/will... so that I don't miss any great baseball goofs. I was worried it might use a good bit of my vcpu quota but consuming the jetstream is way less resource intensive than I would have guessed

exe.dev

exe.dev - ssh exe.dev

Build apps or SSH into a persistent Linux VM. ssh exe.dev.
