yes, very tricky. But it's been made trickier in the UK by cuts and Covid, which meant that assessments became more infrequent and streamlined, ultimately costing the state more money because of the inability to attend more closely to individual needs and capabilities

yes, agree completely. And I do generally accept that the editor is boss. But the levels of surgery involved can, at times, feel like the patient has been murdered in the course of the operation.

Thanks. I didn't want to push these kinds of suspicions too far, as it's a very wide field indeed. But what you say may describe some instances, and is certainly a factor in the intergenerational conflicts/misunderstandings that now arise in workplaces
